If something is good Madrid is that it only has one airport, not like other major capitals in the world that have ... up to 6 airports like London! So you won't have to go too crazy to know how to get to the center of Madrid from Barajas Adolfo Suárez airport. But to help you, we leave you all the options:

If you want more information, visit our TRAVEL GUIDE TO MADRID

It is possibly the fastest way to get to the center of Madrid. The line that passes through both the station of Terminal 4 and the station of the other terminals, is the line 8 (pink). It makes several stops until it reaches Nuevos Ministerios, which has links to subway and subway lines 6 and 10. It takes about 12-15 minutes and its frequency is 4-6 minutes.

The Negative point is that for some time now no longer sell simple paper tickets and you will have to get a transport card and charge it with the amount you need. It is the Multi Card, which you can buy in the own automatic subway machine. The price is € 2.50 (does not include travel balance) and you can load it with both bonuses and balances. It is valid for several people. More card info.

The price of the bill, with an airport supplement, is 4,50€. Although if you are going to spend several days in Madrid and want to move by public transport, you may be interested in the 10-trip voucher, which costs € 12.20.

The schedule It is from 6:00 in the morning until 02:00 in the morning.

* Important: if you charge a tourist ticket, the amount of the € 2.50 card is already included in the price of the pass. The tourist tickets They have unlimited trips for a period of time, and these are (more info):

  • 1 day: € 8.40

  • 3 days: € 18.40

  • 7 days: € 35.40

The line that interests us is the line C-1, which connects the center of Madrid (Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha or Príncipe Pío) with the T4 of the airport. The duration of the journey is about 15-20 minutes (depending on the station where you go), the frequency is 30 minutes and the schedule is from 06:00 to 23:25.

The major inconvenience is that it does not stop at the rest of the terminals, if your flight arrives at T1, T2 or T3 and you want to take the surroundings, you will have to get on the free shuttle that connects the 4 terminals.

The price of the train is from 2,60€. This line would be included in the tourist ticket with unlimited passes for a certain time.

There are two options you have if you want to get to the center of Madrid from the airport by bus: urban buses and the airport express line.

The urban bus lines are the line 101, which reaches the intermodal area of Canillejas from T1, T2 and T3. And the line 200 which arrives at the Avenida de América exchanger from all terminals. The price of these buses is 1,50€ and the ticket is purchased directly on the bus. The approximate time of both lines is from 06:00 to 23:25.

Express Line (line 203) stops at all terminals and reaches the Plaza de Cibeles and Atocha, in the center of Madrid. The price of this bus is 5€ and it takes slightly less than the previous ones. It runs 24 hours a day, although between 06:00 and 23:30 it does not stop at Atocha.

Terminal 4 Satellite is connected to T4 through an automatic underground train (APM). If you are arriving in Madrid, on T4S just follow the indications to T4, you will have to take this train and then on T4 take the subway or train to the center of Madrid.

If you are leaving Madrid and your flight leaves from Terminal 4S, you will first have to check-in at your company's counters, which EYE, are in T4 (not in T4S). Once you have the ticket, it is time to go to the T4S, with the automatic train, which is located on the -2 floor (follow directions), it is free and lasts 3 minutes. Once in the T4S, the security check is passed and in the hall of bascas exits from which door the flight leaves.

The paths of cab between the Barajas Adolfo Suarez airport and the center of Madrid has a fixed rate of 30€. The price is independent of the destination, provided it is a point within the M-30 (anywhere in the center of Madrid would enter). The price includes luggage.

If you prefer to take a Uber or a Cabify, the price is around € 30-35.
