WHERE TO SLEEP IN DAMBULLA, GOVIPALA COTTAGE

The Govipala Cottage has been our base to visit the cities of Dambulla, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa. The site is one of those that have a special charm: located on the banks of a beautiful lake, the Govipala is managed by super nice and friendly people, something that is much appreciated! Our triple room had comfortable beds, television, bathroom and a huge window from where a lot of natural light entered, also on the porch there are sun loungers where you can relax or read a good book.
BATTLE IN ASAKUSA! SAMURAI vs NINJA
BATTLE IN ASAKUSA! SAMURAI vs NINJA
I don't know if we've done anything geekier than the Ninja and Samurai tour in Asakusa in our lives. But being in Japan, and more specifically in Tokyo ... aren't we going to get carried away by this environment and take out that freak vein that we all have inside? And the truth is that we do not regret it! We loved it!

A SEA OF PINK FLOWERS
A SEA OF PINK FLOWERS
At first it was a bit of a click. It was nice if, but it wasn't far from what we expected. To begin with, the guest of honor had not shown up for the appointment. 'This is not done,' we thought, 'you make us get up at 5, do a few km by bus, get here super excited and then see that you have hidden.'
KITCHEN CLASS IN KIOTO!
KITCHEN CLASS IN KIOTO!
Japanese cuisine is one of the healthiest and most fascinating in the world, and as our friend Vero had warned us in Japan they eat a lot more things than sushi. So we didn't think twice and as soon as the opportunity arose to do a Japanese cooking course in Kyoto we signed up. Cooking Sun cooking school is one of the best in all of Japan: we sign up for the morning class that consists of preparing a Japanese bento.

WE'RE GOING WINE!
WE'RE GOING WINE!
Whenever Mr. Valeriano (Rober's father) invites us to some wines, we say no, that this is old. Well, maybe we have already passed to the next step in our lives because as soon as they offered us to spend a day tasting wines we didn't think twice! We did not know that in New Zealand there was so much winemaking tradition ... Here a lot of wine and many different types are produced.
SLEEPING FOR… KUALA LUMPUR II
SLEEPING FOR… KUALA LUMPUR II
The Akar homestay is another great option to stay a few days in Kuala Lumpur. This new hotel (opened in January 2014!) Has several points in favor: the rooms are super clean, bright and well decorated, with a / c, television, coffee ready to be taken ... The bathroom is spacious and clean, something that is Thanks, of course!
SLEEPING FOR… VARANASI (II)
SLEEPING FOR… VARANASI (II)
We spent the last nights of our stay in Varanasi at the Assi Guesthouse, in the Assi Ghat. It is run by a lovely family, always attentive to everything you need and very friendly. We get a very nice memory of them. The guesthouse has several floors and few rooms. There are air-conditioned (where we stay) and cooler, a very useful invention that cools the room quite well.
SLEEPING FOR ... KODAI
SLEEPING FOR ... KODAI
Well, when we arrived at the Fairway Inn in Kodaikanal we could not believe in our eyes: this is paradise! A huge garden, an organic garden, a giant bungalow for ourselves, a basket full of products that we like ... what a welcome piece! But let's go in parts: the Fairway Inn has been our accommodation during the two days we spent in Kodaikanal.
SLEEPING FOR… ALLEPEY
SLEEPING FOR… ALLEPEY
Elsa's Homestay is one of those places that simply… love us! To begin with, it is located in Allepey, the city of Kerala from where most of the Backwaters cruises depart, it is also 7 minutes walk from the beach, it is clean, well decorated, silent and its hosts Tommy and Elsa are the sea Kind and friendly!
SLEEPING FOR… PONDICHERRY
SLEEPING FOR… PONDICHERRY
Kailash GH is one of those places that as soon as you step you know that you are going to like it! Full of personality and details, it is a perfect place to spend a few days in Pondicherry. On the first floor is the reception where the always attentive and smiling staff will be ready to help you. There is a huge area with tables and sofas perfect to browse through a magazine, study the guide of India, skype with your friends or just relax and have a drink (if there is a cool bar!
NAVIGATING THE KERALA BACKWATERS
NAVIGATING THE KERALA BACKWATERS
After saying goodbye to Elsa and Tommy, who as a last gift have smeared our face with aloe vera and left us with softer skin than a baby's ass, we begin what will be one of our dreams fulfilled in India: a Kerala Backwaters cruise! You know, when you want a thing a lot, often, reality can disappoint you.
MOVE THE COLITA!
MOVE THE COLITA!
We continue along the southern shores of Sri Lanka by stopping in the city of Wligama, just 4 km from Mirissa. There is a fundamental reason to make this stop ... colitas! They are neither those of prawns nor others that you can imagine (do not be guarrete ...) are those of whale! This area is famous for boat trips to see the world's largest animal in its natural habitat.
WHERE TO SLEEP IN DUBROVNIK
WHERE TO SLEEP IN DUBROVNIK
We cannot be happier with our accommodation in Dubrovnik. At Guesthouse Maria we do not find a 5-star hotel, or jacuzzi or heated pool, but something better: the family! We were lucky to arrive on the day when the little boy was 3 years old and they invited us to join the celebration.
WHERE TO SLEEP IN SOFIA
WHERE TO SLEEP IN SOFIA
Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, is a cultural and bohemian center. A concentration of trends and art that can be checked directly at the accommodation itself. We did so on the three nights we were at the Red B&B. A hostel housed in an old palace in the heart of the city and that behind its walls used to live artists who gave free rein to their creativity.
WHERE TO SLEEP IN SKOPJE
WHERE TO SLEEP IN SKOPJE
In Skopje we spent 3 nights at Shanti Hostel, a very cute hostel run by young and traveling people. We stayed in a 4-bed bedroom (although there are also options for private rooms and 6-bed dormitories). The best thing is that each bed has a curtain that allows you a certain intimacy (come on, nobody will look at you while you sleep with your mouth open!
WHERE TO SLEEP IN SARAJEVO
WHERE TO SLEEP IN SARAJEVO
Sarajevo was one of the cities that we enjoyed most of our time in the Balkans. Its history, its atmosphere, its atmosphere, its people ... everything turned out to be somehow familiar. The accommodation could not be different. We stay at the Pansion River, a family-run hotel with a lot of tradition, with over 100 years of history.
WHERE TO SLEEP IN TIRANA
WHERE TO SLEEP IN TIRANA
In Tirana we spent two nights at the beautiful Hotel Antigone, located in a residential neighborhood surrounded by cafes and about a 15-minute walk from Skenderbeg Square, the nerve center of Tirana. Our room, double with bathroom, had everything necessary to spend some very comfortable days: a super soft bed, television, water, wi-fi and a / c (although we did not need to use it).
