On Wednesday we discovered an authentic jewel: the Uruguayan restaurant “El Boliche del Gordo Cabrera” that unites the richest of the Uruguayan cuisine with Mediterranean touches ... a mix that can't fail! The place is beautiful, elegant and cozy. His strong point? The high quality of its cuisine and its management: it is a family business where mom, dad, and the two daughters Daniela and Noelia give everything to make customers satisfied ... many sacrifices that are rewarded days after days for 17 years and that insurance will continue like this in the future: to places like this it becomes. It is unavoidable!

And now the nougat ... I know you want to gossip what we have eaten! But first a tip: if you have doubts in front of the letter let yourself be advised by Daniela that she knows… go if she knows! We tried Creole patties of minced beef, green olives and hard boiled egg: how delicious they were… crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and the meat melts in the mouth! We definitely declare ourselves as fillers.

They also brought us pa amb tomaquet and even this was great: I think the best we tried in all of Barcelona: notice that we had to go to a Uruguayan restaurant to find it.

Daniela's father told us the story of the name of the place: it is named in honor of "Gordo Cabrera", a childhood companion and his great friend. It must be curious to live in Uruguay and have a “dedicated” restaurant across the ocean 😉 Between one talk and another it was time to try another dish: baked potato and apple strudel with foie, served with homemade shallot jam and reduction of Pedro Ximenez. Exquisite! The mixture of potatoes and apples is really good and the sauce mmm that sauce was amazing. Look what a pint:

And the star moment of the night came ... the most anticipated dish: porthole. Now, I know it would be very cool, honest and beautiful to be vegetarians, but for dishes like this we will never be able to be! We may not have much willpower but my mamma! How could we give up such a dish? The best meat we tried for a long time! Daniela told us that they are in charge of buying only the best meat on the market (pieces from Uruguay, Nebraska, Normandy, Germany ...).

Along with the 600 grams of grilled meat, there was also a stone plate where you can finish cooking the meat to taste (so there are no problems of "it is undercooked" "is gone"). And 3 sauces to accompany it: chimichurri (oregano, chili, oil and vinegar), barbecue sauce (onion, chili, parsley, vinegar) and aioli. The 3 very rich, but of course ... the chimichurri has that "noseque" that makes us fall in love. Slurp!

We were very full, happy and satisfied ... and I repeat very full. But as you know, there is an independent stomach for sweets, so we unbutton the pants button and try a dulce de leche pancake and a cheese and red fruit mousse that Daniela recommended: DE-LI-CIO-SOS!

At the end of the night I think we both weighed a few more kilos ... but it was worth it! It was worth it: one thing is clear, when we are in India and we have a crazy desire for meat we will take a look at this post and we will drop a tear of nostalgia hehe !! Thank you very much family ... we loved meeting you! To your health!
