It is a fairly famous site thanks to its japanese skewers (yakitori) all types. In fact, the best thing here is to take the “menu” of 8 varied skewers (at the chef's discretion). The price is about ¥ 1,700 (€ 13). The place is tiny and is usually filled with the smoke of the skewers, but if this does not bother you ... it is a great place. In addition the staff is very nice and will make you feel at home.

Here we recommend, without a doubt, one of our favorite Japanese dishes: katsudon(A breaded pork chop covered with egg, onion and sauce in a rice bowl). Here is also great oyakodon, a bowl of rice with chicken, beaten egg and onion made in sweet soy sauce. And cheap prices, calculate about € 4-5 if you only want the main course.

It is clear that the best sushi in Tokyo is not here, but if you want to eat good sushi at reasonable prices... it's a good place! It is a well-known place, a few steps from the famous Shibuya crossing. The best thing is that, as in others kaiten sushi, you are asking on the screen in front of you what you want and after a few minutes you arrive directly at the table. The prices, as we have said, are quite affordable: there are many offers of two pieces of sushi or nigiri that cost about ¥ 108 (less than € 1!). But there is great variety. When paying, they will count the number of dishes and the color of each one to know how much the bill goes up. It is an experience!

advice: If you want to eat one of the best sushis in the city, go to the local “Dai” or “Yamazaki” at the Tsukiji Market (even if it's a couple of pieces).

We recommend this with a small mouth ... that if my Italian family listens to me, it kills me, but this chain proposes Italian dishes quite rich and cheap. Come on, if you want to take a break from Japanese food and eat something western, it's a good option. Pizzas and pasta cost about ¥ 400-500 (€ 3-4).

If you walk around Asakusa and want to eat a good margherita pizza, the Salvatore Cuomo restaurant It has a daily menu of 1300Y (includes free buffet of salads and entrees, drinks, pizza and dessert).

We live near this little shop, a very nice lady is wearing it and the specialty is the bentos, some boxes with the most varied ingredients (almost always it consists of rice, meat or fish and accompanying vegetables). Most bentos cost ¥ 250 (about € 2!). It is only takeaway but you can take it to the riverbank or to a little bench to eat quietly.

After our new visit to Tokyo we have decided to expand this list with a couple of restaurants that we loved!

Buta-Daigaku Shinbashi

It specializes in butadon, as the name says, a bowl of rice coated with grilled bacon bits and grilled in a delicious sweet soy sauce. There are different sizes, we order the "normal" (680Y). Delicious!

Unatoto

One of the dishes we had not yet eaten in Japan was the unagi (eel). It is a very popular cover but very expensive ... however, we discovered this small place in Asakusa where you can try for only 550Y. The unagi is prepared on the grill and, as in the case of butadon, it is served wet by a sweet soy sauce. Very rich and perfect for those who do not know if they will like it or not (it is a rare dish).
