Eating well in the capital of Spain without spending a fortune is a fairly simple mission ... if you know where to throw, of course. And as we love you and we are good people, we have prepared this mini guide with 10 places to eat in Madrid well and cheap (Of course it includes where to eat the best squid sandwich in the city).

Do you already know what to see and do in Madrid? Here we give you 40 ideas!

It is one of the essential places to have something cheap in Madrid, since with each drink (€ 2.50) they serve delicious tapas (and free)! With a couple of reeds, you eat, just don't expect a peeky place, although who wants posh places when there are cider houses like this? We caught two half-liter jugs (€ 5 each) and they brought a huge plate with croquettes and potatoes with brava sauce plus another plate with several montaditos. If you order reeds (€ 2.5) they will bring you practically the same ... this site is not even normal XD

If you are on a diet, you are looking for real food and healthy food, do not enter.

Calle Infantas, 30; Calle Infantas, 23; Hortaleza Street, 23

El Tigre is not the only bar that serves free tapas in Madrid ... the Respiro is a perfect alternative. With € 2 you have a cane and a generous lid (the broken eggs are dead). The best thing is that it is at Lake Tigre, so it is ideal to make both stops.

Infantas Street, 34

Everyone knows him as "the Chinese of Plaza de España" and is an entire institution in Madrid, but few know his name (I admit that I looked for him on Google :-p). In this place, loved by both locals and the Chinese in the capital, they eat luxury and at reduced prices (dumplings for € 4, soups for € 3, noodles / rice for € 4, main courses for € 5-7). It is located in the parking of Plaza de España, a good plan is to ask to take and eat it in the gardens of the square.

Update 2019: closed 🙁

Spain Square

This restaurant for us is one of the best you have to eat in Madrid cheap (and very good). The menu of the day (here you can see it updated) costs € 8.9 and includes starter, main course, drink and dessert (€ 1 more). Every day includes a VEG alternative.

Calle de la Palma, 41

We told you: we cannot write this post without telling you where the best squid sandwich in Madrid is eaten. Well, we have it clear: here! The best thing is that it only costs € 3. It has more snacks and tapas, but the truth is that here, the king, is the squid sandwich. Enjoy it!

Calle Botoneras, 6 (one step away from Plaza Mayor)

A little gem of the Las Letras neighborhood. The place is a small cafeteria but beware of love and taste. Each day they offer a menu of the day for € 12 (2 courses, drink, dessert and coffee). Also recommended for your breakfast or for a coffee stop + homemade cake 🙂

Almadén Street, 15

7. Pizza 3Crosses

Do you feel like pizza? I understand you! Here they are so rich that as an Italian I am, I forgive them for having a carbonara pizza with ham, mushrooms and onion XD I forgive them ... but you don't ask for it 😉

If you are looking for the cheapest canes in all of Madrid (and you are not a gourmet brewer), here you find them at only € 0.40: that's how nice to toast. They also offer cheap tapas, hamburgers for about € 2-3, or threads + liter of beer for about € 8. The quality is not his forte, we are not going to lie, but if you are a few days in the capital, you are on a backpacking budget and what you want is to have dinner for little money and you go to go back to 100 montaditos ... it is your place!

There are several scattered around Madrid

One of the best low cost options in the Malasaña neighborhood. The menu of the day costs € 6.95 (salad + plate or sandwich + drink) and includes healthy and delicious dishes. The only "bad" thing is that the place is tiny, but look at the positive side: you can ask to take away and eat it in a small square in Madrid. Eye: do not confuse him with another place that is also called El Aliño (and that is much more expensive).

Espiritu Santo Street, 2

It's no secret that Goiko Grill eats one of the best burgers in Madrid (there are several stores). The menu of the day is well worth it as it includes hamburger + homemade potatoes with delicious bbq sauce + drink + dessert (order the oreo, mmm!) For € 11.5. Check out their website to see what burguer plays today (if Kevin Bacon plays you have succeeded!).

There are several scattered around Madrid

One option that we recommend if you enjoy gastronomic tourism is to join a tapas tour of Madrid, or a slightly finer one that takes you to try ham and other Iberian and wine.
