Today we travel to South America ... I honestly do not know how I could have such a happy life without knowing the existence of this delight. But from the moment I tried it, I am a much better person and more likely to get fat, things as they are!

I'm talking about caramel, and as here it is not very easy to find it, well ... we are going to show you a Homemade recipe very simple and easy to prepare.

Ingredients (for two cups of dulce de leche)

  • 8 cups of whole milk
  • 2½ cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon of baking soda.

Preparation

  1. Cook all the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat, mix until the sugar is well dissolved. Reduce heat to low.
  2. Continue cooking until the milk is significantly reduced and begins to thicken and change color (it will turn from beige to caramel). This phase takes a long time: between 2 ½ - 3 hours.TIP: During the first hour and a half it will have to be removed from time to time so that the milk does not overflow or stick. During the last hour you will have to constantly mix and reduce the heat to the lowest possible to prevent the dulce de leche from burning.
  3. As soon as the dulce de leche has a creamy consistency you can turn off the heat and let rest ... remember that once it is cold you will have to store it in the fridge.

This is the dulce de leche recipe! The process is simple, although it is quite long ... but I assure you it is worth it!

There is a Recipe-trap much simpler to prepare dulce de leche with a can of condensed milk! Remove the paper from the can, put it in a pot with water and cover it completely (be careful, if the water evaporates add more, always have to cover the can), bring it to a boil and keep it on medium heat for two hours (Also it is worth in pot express less time). Take it out and wait for it to finish cooling to open it and voila!
