Day 9: EL SERENGUETI - NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA

Sunday, November 7

Today we wake up at 5:30, to enjoy the sunrise in the Serengeti National Park and from another safari in Tanzania.
We have breakfast and leave for the Ngorongoro, traveling the part of the Serengeti where you begin to see the endless plains.
This part of Serengeti National Park It's spectacular and it's the image we all have of documentaries.

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

Here we are lucky to see two cheetahs, who do not stop taking pictures and try to approach.

Safari in the Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

We can also see lions, not as close as yesterday, but that encourages us in the morning and more when we see that the truck spins suddenly and faces us to a tree.
At first we see nothing, until after a while, our eyesight begins to focus and we see a leopard on top of one of the branches.

Serengeti National Park

We are having a good time, moving a little, to find the best perspective.
We walked away from the tree, wanting to have stayed there for a couple of hours, just watching.

Serengeti National Park

After a while in the serengeti, we found a huge herd of elephants. They are very close to the road, so we have an incredible view of them.
In the middle of the group, there are several pups, who call us a lot of attention to see them so protected by adults.

Images we will never forget in the Serengeti National Park

The young do not dominate the movement of the tube until after a few months and it is quite an experience to observe them walking, moving from side to side, without any control.

Serengeti National Park

After these moments, they announce that they take us to a place, where they will let us get off the truck and get on a kopi.
This is going to be an experience. Get off the truck in full Serengeti National Park.

On board our truck in the Serengeti National Park

From a distance we begin to see the kopi and get excited to think only of climbing. After 2 minutes we are already the whole group upstairs, each one for a site, taking photos and above all admiring the landscape.
They let us stay for a while, so we took the opportunity to sit on the rock and just relax. We have the best view in front of us: the endless plain, the Serengeti, dotted with a zebra manda.
And as if we were watching a documentary of a safari in Tanzania, from time to time, we see on the horizon some 4 × 4 ...
Another image to remember.

Enjoying the Serengeti National Park

After this, we have to go to a kind of picnic area, where we will eat and make a “technical” stop.
This section of the road, next to the one that will take us to the Ngorongoro, is one of the most difficult, if not the worst.
It is an unpaved road, with many potholes and above all a lot of dust.
After 1 hour on the road, we arrived battered in powder and with the ground ass of so much bump, but the landscape of the Serengeti It has been spectacular. So we stay with that, the leg pain will pass us in a few hours.
Upon arriving at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we stop at a kind of picnic area, where there is a viewpoint.

Serengeti National Park

You have to climb some stairs and you reach the top of some rocks, from where you can see the incredible plain of the Serengeti Park.

Serengeti National Park

At the same time you can also see in the distance the road on which we have come and on which, after eating, we will go to our next destination.
Here we take the opportunity to clean up a little, buy a little something and after this get to eat, today we do not have so much time, so we do not set up the tables or drink coffee.
We sit directly on a wall and eat right there.
What else can we sit if we face this landscape!
About 2 o'clock we pick up and set off again.
In this part of the tour, we begin to see masais with their cattle and we have the experience of people greeting each other as we pass.
As it has happened before, I do not give importance to the dust that I am swallowing or the potholes, the landscape impacts me so much that I do not think of anything else.

After crossing the plain, we find a change of landscape, which begins to enter the Ngorongoro.
The landscape is completely different, but if possible, more spectacular.

Ngorongoro on a safari in Tanzania

The vegetation begins to be abundant and the mountains increasingly visible.
Finally we reach an area, where from above we see the Ngorongoro crater. Here they let you get off the truck and we have our first views of one of the most impressive places in the world: the Ngorongoro.
I keep this first vision. You can't explain, you have to see it.
It seems incredible that this exists ...

Ngorongoro on a safari in Tanzania

We take a few pictures and they approach us some masais with things to sell us.
After stretching our legs a little and enjoying unique views, they take us directly to the Lodge where we will sleep tonight.
When we arrive, the first thing that catches our attention is that we have zebras in the garden. And they tell us that if we leave after dark in our rooms, we will always be accompanied by a Masai. Does that mean anything you haven't told us?
Before going to the rooms, we go to the Lodge's bar, to enjoy an incredible sunset, relaxed, having a drink and chatting about today.
At this point of safari in TanzaniaI don't know if I prefer to watch the sunset, have a quiet drink, take a shower, have dinner ...
Everything catches my attention so much that it is difficult to decide on something specific.
Before dinner we will take a shower and rest for a few minutes. Accustomed as we have been to the tents, Tented Camp and the occasional bungalow, this is the most "weak" place where we have stopped to sleep.
The rooms are fine, but the cleanliness is a bit "short", although we can't complain, the trip is being a total success.
At 8.30 we go to dinner at the restaurant and today we are all quite tired, so after a while, we go straight to sleep.
Tomorrow we have another of the strengths of the trip: Ngorongoro.
