Day 3: CESKY KRUMLOV - HLUBOKÁ CASTLE - CESKÉ BUDEJOVICE - TREBON

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Today we have two main objectives:the city of Cesky Krumlov and the castle of Hluboká That's why we woke up pretty soon and we went down to breakfast. In this hotel in Cesky Krumlov, Švamberský dům breakfast is from 8.30 in the morning something that has missed us but that has been totally compensated when we find a table full of sausages, different kinds of bread, Cereals, very complete and only for us.
After this amazing breakfast we leave our bags at the hotel, since our idea is to visit the rest of the city of Cesky Krumlov that we were pending yesterday when we arrived from the spa cities of the Czech Republic.
If you do not want to rent a car you can visit Cesky Krumlov from Prague by booking this day guided tour in Spanish.

Cesky Krumlov

We started wandering around a city for a while, which at night is spectacular, by day it is much more.

We are discovering, in the few days that we have been here, that the best thing about the Czech Republic is wandering around, we don't find “explicit” places to visit, it is best to walk the streets and see the different architecture and “taste” the local life .

Cesky Krumlov

Before commenting on the sites we have visited, we will make a brief paragraph on the subject of Internet connections in the Czech Republic.
We have already 3 hotels that announce that they have connection and for now, nothing at all. The connection is limited or null so we have not been able to consult our great "ally" Internet for 3 days.
After walking for a while, we go straight to Cesky Krumlov Castle, the most emblematic symbol of the city.

Cesky Krumlov Castle

We have entered through Budejovicka's door, crossing the red door, which leads directly to the first courtyard.
Once there, we have found the pit, where they have 3 brown bears, which stoically bear the tourists' gaze.
After this pit, on the left, we find the tower, where Roger climbs, while I wait, taking advantage of taking some pictures.

After a while and seeing that the sky begins to cover, we follow the path that surrounds the castle of Cesky Krumlov, on the inside.

Cesky Krumlov

We planned to visit inside, but we see that it is closed and we take the opportunity to walk on foot, with more tranquility ... until it starts to rain and we have to turn around to protect ourselves.

Cesky Krumlov

After this, it is no more than 11 in the morning and we stop for a drink in a cafeteria, in a street near the castle.
Seeing that it is time to leave, we go for the rental car in the Czech Republic (which we had to park in the parking lot 2 of the city, since the one proposed by the hotel was under construction).

We pick up our bags and make our way to Hluboká Castle from Cesky Krumlov where we will arrive in approximately 30 minutes. In principle we had it as optional, but seeing that we are going well for time, we make a hole to get to know it.

We have arrived in 20 minutes or so and after a few laps around the town, we have found a way to climb by car, without having to do all the way on foot.
There was a sign indicating that it was a pedestrian path, but we have seen a car go up and there we have gone.
The Hluboká Castle It is spectacular, totally white, highlighting the green of the gardens.

Hluboká Castle

We have made a complete tour, abroad, because today, being Monday, it is closed.

Hluboká Castle

We have been around for an hour and we have already begun to feel a bit hungry, so we have returned for our car, to set course for Ceské Budejovice, our next destination. We have already made our two great visits of the day: Cesky Krumlov and Hluboká Castle.
It has taken us about 45 minutes to arrive, crossing, as usual, large green fields, dotted with yellow flowers, which make a spectacular landscape.
On this journey, we have passed through a larger town than the previous days we have been in the Czech Republic.
We arrived at 2 pm and we were able to park in the center of Ceské Budejovice.
The first thing has been to look for a place to eat and we have gone directly to the main square, which is one of the largest in Europe.
We are struck again by the architecture we see, you can't stop looking, side by side, every building you look at, is better than the previous one.
We have observed the tourism that we are crossing and it is especially striking, first that we have not crossed into any Spanish. And second, the "perfect" harmony with which it is "touristy."
A word is not heard louder than another, there are no screams, people do not accumulate, we are a pleasure for all the senses.
It is all very quiet, even in the most touristy and frequented places.
After eating, we have recreated in the main square, with Samson's fountain, the City Hall, which plays music every hour and in one of the corners, the Black Tower of Ceské Budejovice.

Ceské Budejovice

Next, we were able to see the St. Nicholas Cathedral. All this is in the same square, so visit it, we do it in a short time.
Seeing that we still have time, we dedicate ourselves to a little stroll around the area, and then get on our way to Trebon, where we will stay today.
It took us half an hour to arrive fromCeské Budejovice to Trebon and only entering the town we see that we have not been wrong choosing our hotel here.
We go directly to the hotel, the Zlata Hvezda Hotel that is located in the main square and they say it is one of the best hotels in the city of Trebon, although we have already verified that it does not have Wi-Fi, even if they advertise it on their website.
We leave the car in a private parking lot behind the hotel and seeing the time, we propose to visit the town this afternoon, so tomorrow we will have won a few hours and continue adding some hours to our route through the Czech Republic.
The tourist area is around the Trebon main square, so with a couple of hours, we had enough to know the most important places in the city.

Trebon

In the main square we find the Town Hall, the Church of San Gil and the Monastery of San Agustín.

Trebon

We walk around the castle of Trebon, which is located in one of the corners of the square and we go around it, touring the streets that surround it.

Trebon

Spectacular Renaissance and baroque houses that are shown to us as we go through the streets of Trebon.

Trebon

After this walk, we stop to have a drink on a terrace in front of the Trebon hotel and we see that right next door we have a restaurant that they recommend in the guide, where to eat carp, something that they recommend to do in this city yes or yes.
So we have decided on tonight's dinner site.
As we still have a while, we return to the hotel to rest for a while, before going down to dinner.
(9:00 pm: change of plans, in the end we had dinner at a pizzeria near the hotel, because the tent restaurant was empty and this has given us a bad feeling…)
