Day 1: Barcelona - Amman Airport - Amman

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Today we leave home early, at 2:10 p.m. flight from Barcelona to Amman, the capital of Jordan, which will take us to the destination where we will spend the next 11 days.
On this occasion we flew with Royal Jordanian, previously we had already traveled with them and we can really say that it is a good company.
We know that we have a few hours ahead until we reach Amman airport, but we will take the opportunity to reread the planning of this trip to Jordan for free that we take of all things what we want to see in Jordan.
After 4 and a half hours of flight, the truth, we are not at all long, we landed in Amman, the capital of the country.
We change in a exchange office some euros to dinars and we start to make the visa, 10 dinars per person.
Currently and after many trips to the back we recommend, if you do not want to pay commissions when taking money from ATMs abroad and always have the current change, use the N26 card to pay and the Bnext and Revolut cards to get money in the ATMs They are the ones we use, They are free and will save you a lot.
You can find more information in this article about the best cards to travel without commissions.

When we leave the airport, we immediately take a taxi to our accommodation, the Toledo Hotel, a very Spanish name. Comment that at the hotel we were asked for 30 dinars for the transfer from Amman airport to hotel and the taxi, taking it from the airport cost us 21 dinars, so it is worth taking the taxi directly, since there is no problem to find them at the exit of the airport.
The Amman hotel is quite good, the facilities very good and the room quite correct, with all the comforts we can need after this flight of almost 5 hours.

Toledo Hotel

In the same hotel we hired for the next day an excursion to Ajlun and Jerashde of 7 hours for 50 dinars and we took the opportunity to ask the price for taking us to Madaba, stopping at 2 desert castles that we want to visit. After a while consulting the phone, they tell us that the car / driver would leave for 65 dinars.
This point, for now, we leave pending, to check with other taxi drivers in the city the price and thus be able to compare them.

Hotel Toledo in Amman

After the flight we are busted, but still, we stop at the hotel lounge where we have a drink before going to rest in the room, when it is almost 11 at night.
