Day 1: Lloret de Mar - Barcelona Airport - Rome Fiumicino - Rome

As we usually do in the last trips we have been doing these months ago, the day begins like any other, with the only difference that with the first cup of coffee of the day we know that in a few hours we will be furrowing the sky again to a new destination or as on this occasion, to return to tour one already known, returning for the tenth time to that country that has so hooked us: Italy and our Rome on a weekend that we will enjoy these days, the airport we will arrive this late night.

We work until two o'clock, at which time we load our handbags in the car and after eating at our favorite restaurant in Lloret, the Trattoria Da Paolo, when it is 4:15 p.m., we set off for the airport Barcelona, from where at 8 pm our flight leaves for Rome Fiumicino, from where casually, in a few months we will cross the puddle To fulfill one of those traveling dreams that we have been waiting for a long time.

Approaching the airport of Barcelona

We arrive at T2 at Prat airport at 6 in the afternoon, where our friends from Aparca & Vola are waiting for us at the terminal door and where after leaving the car, we go straight to the boarding gate where we take a couple of coffees waiting for boarding to begin and start our getaway to Rome on a weekend.

Barcelona Airport

For a mistake or rather a lack of attention, I thought that our flight arrived at 12 at night, so counting that the last bus from Terravison to go from the airport to the center (Termini Station) was at 12, we booked priority with Ryanair, in order to ensure the first places of the plane and therefore be the first to leave and also avoid last-minute check-in if the flight is full. Well, we just realized this morning that we had looked at the wrong time when we checked the flight and making accounts we have seen that the time we had arrived was impossible, so unintentionally, in this getaway to Rome on a weekend, so unintentionally, we will try the option of priority at Ryanair
Right at the boarding gate we see that there is a place where we can buy round-trip tickets with Terravison for 8 euros per person, which will leave us in about 50 minutes at Termini station, right next to our hotel these days, The One Hotel Rome.

Terravision Barcelona

A few minutes before boarding, they announce that the flight takes a delay of approximately 30 minutes, so we have to wait in the queue for a long time, until Ryanair decides to give the boarding confirmation, at the end almost an hour later.

Once with the boarding gate open we pass quickly to our seat number 2, in which we pass a most pleasant flight, taking advantage to review both the planning of this getaway to Rome on a weekend like the next trip we will make in a few weeks, with which we will also fulfill another of those traveling dreams.

Finally we landed in Rome Fiumicino at 11:15, an hour and 20 later than expected, so it's time to get on the bus that takes us to the terminal and pray for the 11-hour Terravision bus to wait for the flight and we don't have to wait until 12, the last bus leaves (Termini).

You can find more information about the transfer in this post about how to go from Fiumicino airport to Rome.

We leave direct from Terminal 3, following the signal of Terravision, which is leaving the Terminal on the right hand side and seeing that there is no trace of the bus, we continue until the general bus station, at the end of terminal 3, where we find a TAM bus that will take us up to 5 euros from the airport to Rome Termini, losing the ticket we had bought at the Prat airport of Terravision, but earning almost 45 minutes, something that at this time of night, well worth the 4 euros we lost per person.
