The capital of Hungary is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, with an infinite number of places to visit, neighborhoods to discover, an exciting history and a character that attracts. In fact, for us it is one of the ideal getaways for those who have only a few days. Is that your case and now you're looking accommodation in Budapest? Then we get you out of doubt and tell you what they are the best neighborhoods and areas to stay in Budapest, and we recommend a few hotels, to make it even easier for you 😉

If you want more information, visit our BUDAPEST TRAVEL GUIDE

But first, let us clarify something about the distribution of this city. Budapest is formed by the union of three cities:

  • Óbuda, to the north, something far from the center and the main points of interest.
  • Buddha, west of the Danube, considered the upper part of the city and its historical origin. Highlights its wonderful castle and Fisherman's Bastion. It is a sloping terrain with narrow streets.
  • Pest, to the east of the river, is the lower part of the city, much more extensive and where the majority of the population is concentrated. Being flat favors the construction of large avenues and wide streets.

In addition, the entire city is divided into districts. These are the most recommended for finding accommodation in Budapest:

How much does accommodation in Budapest cost? You can usually find rooms in hotels of a certain quality for less than € 40. It is not complicated to get an apartment for about € 40/60 night in the best areas of Budapest. Of course there are cheaper options (although often somewhat further away): doubles are found for about € 30 / night and bunk beds in bedrooms for € 10 or less.

The Jewish Quarter is one of the best areas to stay in Budapest, in fact it is our favorite: this neighborhood is central, cheap and full of ruin pubs and options to eat something cheap. Have a alternative roll that we personally love, you will also be one step away from the main attractions of the center.

Recommended hotels:

  • Nova Aparthotel (we stayed here once!)
  • Great Central Apartments
  • KViHotel Budapest

These two neighborhoods that form the same district, are what we could define as the Budapest center, both tourist and administrative. Here you can find the Budapest Parliament, the St. Stephen's Cathedral or the Central Market, for example. Come on, logistically it is a success!

The bad thing is that it is an elegant area, and therefore the most expensive in the city, so the prices of both accommodation and restaurants rise. Even so, the offer is wide, so there are often interesting offers from € 30.

Recommended hotels:

  • Erzsébet City Center Hotel
  • Balance Home
  • Maverick Apartments

While we would NOT stay there, it is undeniable that this area of Budapest, on the other side of the Danube River, has a special charm. To be one step away from Fisherman's Bastion and enjoy the best views of Budapest It is an incentive nothing negligible, but we do not find the most comfortable option, really.

To start most things to see and do in Budapest, they are on the other side of the river. And of course, (now the vague that we carry inside), Buddha is full of ups and downs :-p Also the gastronomic and hotel offer is much more limited than in the rest of the city. However, if you have previously visited the city and want to enjoy a few relaxing days ... it can be a very good option (it depends on what you want, of course).

Recommended hotels:

  • PEST-BUDA Design Hotel by Zsidai Hotels at Buda Castle
  • Butik Design Buddha
  • Buda Castle Fashion Hotel Budapest

The last neighborhood where we recommend looking for accommodation in Budapest (if the Jewish neighborhood or Inner City fails) is Terézváros. Now, eye because it is huge: the ideal here would be to find something close to the center (the closer to the Erzsébet Square and the square Vörösmarty tér, Heroes' Square, better).

Recommended hotels:

  • Six Inn Hotel
  • Stars and Lights Budapest - West End 2 -Premium Economy
  • Feodorm apartments

Here we leave you a Map with the best areas to stay in Budapest and the location of the recommended hotels:

And ready! We hope to have clarified what are the best areas to stay in Budapest and that thanks to this post you have found a cheap and very handsome hotel. Enjoy the capital of Hungary a lot, it's a pa-sa-da!
