In this post we will tell you what are the best and worst airports in the world

Have you seen the movie "The Terminal"? The protagonist, Tom Hanks, lands in NYC and discovers that in his native country there has been a coup d'etat: he is denied both his visa to enter the United States and his return home. Come on, it gets locked in an airport.

¿Can you imagine living in an airport? I did: it happened to me too, well it wasn't that strong, but 24 hours in an airport are many! And at least if I had been "trapped" in NYC or Singapore ... but no! Were 24 hours at Milan Bergamo airport: How sad!

The beautiful (almost) sleepers

Whereas it was my first plane trip, and together with my adventure partner I I submitted to check in one day later than planned, I would say that each one of the 1,440 minutes I deserved them (How is it done? And what do I know!). Years later, frequenting almost all the airports of Italy, Spain and Portugal for my work and those of half Europe and Asia for our passion, we realized that there are airports of different leagues (Rober would say the worst is the Italian League ... tss! Ignorant!)

This is the official list of the best airports in the world to 2016 (according to the Skytrax website)

  1. Singapore Changi
  2. Incheon Intl Airport (South Korea)
  3. Munich Airport
  4. Tokyo Intl Haneda
  5. Hong Kong Intl Airport
  6. Centrair Airport (Nagoya, Japan)
  7. Zurich Airport
  8. London Heathrow
  9. Kansai Intl Airport (Japan)
  10. Doha Hamad Airport

The most attentive will have noticed that Milan Bergamo airport does not appear I do not understand why (ironic mode ON), although I admit that I ate a chocolate muffin that was not bad at all.

My favorite airport is without a doubt the one of Singapore, since while you wait for your flight you can:

  • Surf in the Internet
  • Get a leg massage
  • Play console
  • Watch movies in your TV room
  • Stroll through tropical gardens
  • Sing karaoke
  • Visit art galleries
  • And if you have time on a scale sign up for a (free) visit to Singapore

* But I didn't see chocolate muffins like those of Milan Bergamo

Ying and yang are everywhere, and here also clear: if there is a top 10, there will be a flop 10 I say ... in fact, here they go The worst airports of the year in 2016:

  1. Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport (Saudi Arabia)
  2. Juba International Airport (Sudan)
  3. Port Harcourt International Airport (Nigeria)
  4. Tashkent International Airport (Uzbekistan)
  5. Santorini Thira National Airport (Greece)
  6. Chania International Airport (Greece)
  7. Crete Heraklion International Airport (Greece)
  8. Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport
  9. London Luton International Airport
  10. Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (Nepal)

In our personal classification, the worst at all was the Paris Beauvis airportbecause in perfect style Backpacking in Asia We wanted to sleep in their facilities. We did not have a small detail: the airport closes from 12pm to 5am. So to sleep in the street! And in October ... a cold that only penguins were missing!

After that blunder, no! We never stopped sleeping in airports, the other way around: we became more professional ... We discovered the website "Sleeping in airports" where you have all the tips to sleep well in these free hotels and which are the best and the worst (Yes! Beauvais is blacklisted ... and Bergamo's too!)

Steal on silkworm plan in Paris

To end this section we leave you with some of the most curious airports in the world:

The world's most beach airport

It is that of Princess Juliana on an island in the Netherlands Antilles: her airstrip ends almost at the beach. If you are more of a mountain it is not your place!

The most antisocial airport in the world

It is located on Easter Island: the nearest airport is Santiago de Chile, a whopping 3,759km!

The highest airport

It is located in the heart of Tibet: at 4,334m above sea level, so as not to have altitude sickness!

Flash airport

14 pounds is what your airline asks to transport passengers from Westray Island to Pope Westray: the flight lasts 2 minutes!

What is your favorite airport? Have you slept in any? Did you get stuck like me?
