Day 0: PREPARATIONS

A few days after finishing the trip to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, we closed a getaway that we will do to one of the places that, also, had been on our list of “dream destinations” for years.
We already had that we would return from Sri Lanka and Maldives on July 14 and that this getaway will be the bridge on August 15, so we will hardly have time to recover from one trip ... to undertake another.
But that is what a "traveling addict" has to be 🙂
And wanting to take advantage of every day we have on vacation to the fullest, entails this kind of thing ...

On the same day, August 15, first thing in the morning, we will fly back to Paris to start a 4-day route through one of the regions of France that we most want to know: Normandy!! And we will make a small foray into French Brittany ...

Normandy map. Travel to Normandy.

As with any trip or getaway we do the first thing we have done has been a search and comparison of flights from Barcelona to Paris with our usual search engine Skyscanner and after making an initial screening, we had two options that fit us quite well for price. The first was an economic flight with Vueling and the second an economic flight with good schedule with Ryanair, so the final decision was to opt for the second option. We already have the most important! The flight Barcelona to Paris.

The initial idea of this trip to Normandy It is to know the famous Mont Saint-Michel, but once we begin to inquire about the area, we discover really spectacular sites, which we have not hesitated to add to the route we have planned.
The idea is to pick up a rental car in Normandy at the same airport in Paris and from there set course towards Rouen, in Upper Normandy, that first day. (Update: In the end, due to lack of time, we leave Rouen for a future getaway)
Victor Hugo called it "the City of One Hundred Belltowers" and Stendhal "The Athens of the Gothic." As a result of the bombing of the city during World War II, many buildings were damaged, but luckily, many famous buildings are still standing, which we hope to see on the first day of our trip to Normandy.
After visiting and eating in Rouen, we will make our way to Étreat, known for the impressive Étretat Cliffs, which include the famous natural arch, known as "The Eye of the Needle", which we intuit will be one of the cherries of the day.

On the way to Étretat Cliffs We will make a brief stop at the Normandy Bridge, to know this bridge that crosses the estuary of the Seine.
The last stop of the day will be in Honfleur, a town very close to the Bridge, which connects the city with Le Havre.
Honfleur It is a maritime town, where time seems to have not passed.
It is a fishing, commercial and tourist port, which has highlighted its rich historical and artistic heritage.
It is a city of painters and impressionist. Honfleur It also has this soul that they say makes it irresistible.

The first day of trip to Normandy we will sleep in Fall which will be from where we will depart on the second day, where we plan to tour the Norman Coast, passing through such well-known places as: La Cambe, Pointe du Hoc D Day Monument, Cricqueville-en-Bessin, Omaha Beach D Day Monument, Longues-sur- Mer, Arromanches ...
We hope to find good weather and more on the dates we go, although we also expect that we will find more people than we usually find on our trips, for being August.

This second day we will arrive in the afternoon to the long awaited Mont Saint-Michel, where we intend to be long enough to "get soggy" on him.

East trip to Normandy It will not be less than the rest of the trips we make, so we have the idea of getting up early enough to extend the days long enough to give us time to see everything we have more or less scheduled.

The third day we will dedicate in the morning to visit the Mont Saint-Michel, this time of day and with more tranquility.
We do not want to determine how long we will be, but we do know that after this visit, we will make our way to French Brittany, where we will make a small raid these days, visiting Saint Malo.
Saint Malo It is a seaside resort well known for its fenced city and its relationship with the sea and is one of the best known cities in Brittany.
It has a rich maritime history and its historical center has the peculiarity of being completely walled in a circular shape, with a construction dating from the thirteenth century.

Saint Malo Travel to Normandy.

After spending the whole afternoon in Saint Malo, we will go to Dinan, also in French Brittany, where we have been told that it would be a sin not to stop.
And as we listen to everything they tell us, we will make a brief stop in this town very famous for its architecture and that just by looking at the photos, we know, will not disappoint us ...

Dinan Travel to Normandy.

Since Dinan we will go to Val-de-Reuil, where we will sleep on the last night of our trip to Normandy.
We have the flight back home on August 18, at 1:25 p.m., so we have part of the morning, knowing that we will get up early, to make, perhaps, one last stop before returning ...
Plasmando this route on paper, we know that it is quite tight in time, but we do not want to sacrifice anything, nor pass over the cities without even seeing them ... so we will have to look for that intermediate point to enjoy our trip to Normandy!!
