How to get from Prague airport to downtown It is one of the questions we receive most when you start preparing your trip to the Czech capital. That is why we wanted to publish this guide that will help you prepare this transfer in the fastest and most economical way to enjoy one of the most incredible cities in the world.

The Václav Havel Prague International Airport, located 10 kilometers from the city center, has Terminal 1 for intercontinental flights and Terminal 2 for European flights and unlike other airports, it has no connection to the city center in train or subway
Based on the experience of our trip to the Czech Republic during which we visited Prague in 4 days, we show you the three alternatives how to get from the airport to the center of Prague. We start!

Bus

The bus is the only alternative by public transport to go from the airport to Prague and there are a variety of lines and options, which you can choose depending on the location of your hotel or the time of arrival.
These are the best alternatives:

  • Airport express: This bus is the fastest and most comfortable option when connecting the two terminals of the airport with the central train station (Hlavní nádrazí) in about 35 minutes, for just over 2 euros, without intermediate stops.
The line operates at a frequency of about 30 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. departing from the airport and from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., in the opposite direction. In addition, the ticket is purchased directly from the driver and has space for luggage.
  • Bus 119: This line connects the two terminals with the Nádrazí Veleslavín metro station in about 15 minutes, for less than one euro per person. From this station you can take the green line or A, which will take you to the city center. The schedule is from 05h to 00h, with a frequency of 10 minutes.
  • 100 bus:: It is similar to 119 and is the most recommended option if your hotel is near the yellow line or B, when connecting with the Zlicín metro station.
  • Bus 510:: Performs night service, connecting the airport with the I.P. Pavlova, located near Wenceslas Square, in 45 minutes. The frequency is 30 minutes and the price is around 1 euro per person.

The buses that make the transfer from the airport to Prague, with the exception of the Airport Express, in addition to not being so comfortable if you go with luggage, require the extra to buy the ticket at the kiosks located at the exits of the two terminals and validate them at the bus. In case the kiosks were closed, you can buy it directly on the bus.

The Hlavní Nádrazí station is very close to Wenceslas Square, a good area to stay, where we recommend the hotel Archibald City, where we were during our days in Prague and has an excellent quality / price ratio.

If you are staying in the old part of the city or in other neighborhoods you can take the green line that stops at this station.
A good option if you are going to visit several of the most important attractions of the city such as the Prague Castle, the Old Town Hall, the Petrín Viewpoint, the synagogues, is to book the Prague Card that also includes the Airport Express.

Transfer from Prague airport to downtown

Private transportation, one of the best options to go from Prague airport to downtown

A much more convenient and quick option is to book this direct transfer from Prague airport to your hotel, in which the driver will wait for you at the exit of the two terminals with a sign with your name.
The price in a 4-seater tourism is 25 euros and 35 euros, in an 8-seater minibus. It is currently considered one of the cheapest services of this type in Europe and the journey time to the center, depending on traffic, is half an hour.

Cab

The taxi, with a price of around 30 euros, is the most expensive option to go from the airport to the center of Prague, besides being the most problematic. First you will have to sort through the departures terminal, many times deceptive, from unofficial taxi drivers, until arriving at the queue outside the terminal to take one of the taxis of the official companies: Fix Taxi and AAA Radiotaxi, so we believe that this is the least recommended option to go from the airport to Prague
