The expectations were high. I had, especially me * Lety *, the feeling that the capital of Germany was one of those places that I feel mine. But my instinct failed clamorously. There were no butterflies in the stomach. There was no crush. There was no connection. And what Maria and Fra had told us ...

There is no denying that the city is interesting, full of attractions and suitable for every type of public (there are perfect neighborhoods for urban art lovers, options for diving in the sad history of the Holocaust or Cold War, areas that would drive you crazy to any foodie). So I know that it was not the fault of the city. It was my fault (and a little too cold and white sky milk, that jolin, we are Mediterranean guys!).

This post will not tell you what to see in Berlin, for this we already have this one, but it will be a Berlin brainstorming.

Yesterday he met us with sunshine and this morning he looked like a bite. Schizophrenic Bipolar. It would be and horny. We don't know if we like it, we don't know if it has disappointed us. Berlin is a rare city, a city where on the same street where Hitler once paraded, today you can see an uncle dressed as a lion hugging an aunt disguised as a squirrel. The sky is still gray, but they are two suns.

We still have not caught the roll of this city. At the moment we only have two certainties:

In Berlin we went cold. The temperature that does not move away from 0º, the sky seemed colorless, people seemed gray. Unter den Linden was full of works, loud and ugly. Cold hands. Frozen ears. Discussions Potsdam Platz. Commemorative plaques of Jews killed for being Jews. A lot of cement. Dead trees. Premises closed. Karl-Marx-Allee The mud Homeless Drizzle.

But there was also some heat. The smoke of a bratwurst fresh from the grill. A coffee with a touch of hazelnut syrup. Wool gloves A Pollok painting that gives life to a white room. Kreuzberg graffiti. Fooling around in a photoautomat. The man who helps us understand the map, had dentures and a bunch of anecdotes to tell us (in perfect Spanish!). The trabbis multicolored. The dome of the cathedral. The wall. Hit us a monumental race to take the last bus. Arrive on time. The mattress catches bodies. The street stalls of currywurst and kebab. Picnic dinners at the hotel. The boiling shower.

There are times when reason dictates one thing and laziness dictates another. In our case, many times, Rober is the one who puts sanity on the matter, but when we were at the Topography of Terror (amazing place to learn more about Nazi history, propaganda and madness) he told me that he didn't feel like going to the Riechstieg, the German parliament, to visit its famous glass dome. I didn't feel like it either, so we let fate decide for us: we rode a bus that would arrive at Rieschstieg just in time for our 'date'. Let random choose ...

And he chose: the bus did not arrive. Not that he was late, he didn't arrive directly. Suddenly, when we were on an 'x' street a lot of police cars beat us and cut the street for about 20 minutes, after which we continued on our route to AlexanderPlatz. We no longer had time to get to the appointment and we looked at each other with the face of 'well, we tried, it was not our fault'. The best thing was to get to AlexanderPlatz: here the driver said we should get off because he had finished his work day (!). Definitely, fate did not want us to visit the Reichstag.

And no, we do not regret: traveling is not just doing the things to do, crossing out lists and visiting as many places as possible. For the majority we will be two fools, lazy and dumb. And it may be true. What is 100% certain is that this was the day we exchanged the German parliament for a bus trip, a hazelnut coffee with a croissant and a hot shower (which we enjoyed as never before).

Bah, these are details: yesterday I saw a fox in a snowstorm crossing a runway at an airport! Screenwriter never leave me, I love you !!

We will be back. We will return because we have a lot to discover in Berlin. We will return because it is a city to which we must return. We will return because we feel like it. But with heat.
