Lisbon in 4 days

Our trip to Lisbon in 4 days for free gave us the opportunity to return to Portugal for the second time and get to know one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
In the 4 days we spent in Lisbon we toured the Alfama District, the Sé or Lisbon Cathedral, the Pantheon, the Feira da Ladra Market, Chiado, the Carmo Convent, San Roque, the Castle of San Jorge, we enjoyed tram 28 and Of course, from the spectacular viewpoints of Lisbon. We also had time to approach the famous Bethlehem District one day, where we enjoyed the Jeronimos Monastery, the Pradao dos Discoverías Monument, the Belém Tower and tasted the Pasteis de Belém, which left us with a taste that we still remember today…

And of course, we could enjoy one of the jewels of Lisbon, its fados, in a neighborhood tasca, surrounded by lisboetas, which made their fados a delight for us, living it in a much less traditional way than the local tourists of the Neighborhood from Alfama. This was one of the many experiences that we can never forget and that we will always associate with the city. Lisbon, that city with decadent air, which for us will always be linked to the Alfama District, the Pasteis de Belém and the fantastic sound of fados.

We can say that there is no better time to travel to Lisbon, since this city is amazing in all ways and in any season you will find things to do and know. Although we recommend visiting it out of season, the months of July and August are the most expensive and at the same time those that fill the city with tourists.
Traveling to Lisbon in the low season, from December to March, may be one of the best options, since although we risk it rains, the city presents itself to us “naked” and we probably do not cross with more travelers than ourselves.

Hello travelers! My husband and I, who have already passed 60, want to take a tour of Portugal, leaving Colombia, where we live. What do you recommend? Do you have a trip published, as beautiful and detailed as the one you just did for Colombia?

Next week we are going to Lisbon and we would very much like to listen to fados. You could give me the name of the bar where you went since we would also like it not to be the typical spectacle for tourists.

Good guys! We were the bridge last May and we loved it and we followed you all the way. You are great, no doubt congratulations on the blog!

We discovered a very special place in the Alfama neighborhood, LA TASQUINHA DE BACO, a quiet place with good music and delicious tapas. The best atmosphere and Beligoz cupcakes that are good and are very healthy!

I will definitely return to that cozy and informal city!

Hello! I've been following you for a while now and I love your blog! I want to make a trip on my own to Portugal and Morocco, but I have no idea how to plan it! I only have the date of departure and arrival. Where should I go first? I live in Puerto Rico. I just want to spend five days in each country, and in Morocco do the desert excursion.

    I greatly appreciate your help.

      Hi Nellie,
Thank you very much for writing to us. We would plan the trip based on the cheapest flight and then look for flights with a low cost company, Ryanair type, for the transfer between countries.
In Portugal, with only 5 days, it is perhaps better that you focus on Lisbon and some escape for example to Sintra and in Morocco you can go to Marrakech and from there take a trip to the desert.
      Regards!

The best viewpoint is that of Graça, near the castle. I also recommend that you ask about the Park, a bar with a terrace near Bairro Alto. Do not miss it, it is a building composed of several parking floors, and above all has the bar. It is hidden, but the view is amazing.

On fado, visit the Alfama neighborhood and let yourself go. In some bars people improvise and sing.

True, for me Portugal is an unknown paradise. I lived in Lisbon for two years and I remember that city every day.

By the way, in Alfama ask for a bar called Ti Natercia; It is small and usually full, but it eats very well. Do not miss their grilled cod!

By the way, I suppose you have already informed Sintra and you will plan to dedicate a day. If not, you are already taking 😉

To get there, just take a train in Rossio (in the center of Lisbon) and in just half an hour you will be there. Sintra is a small town very very tourist and nestled in a valley. It has many things to see, but there are two mandatory and that will take you more than half a day: Pena Palace and the gardens of Quinta Regaleira. I recommend you go to the tourist office and buy a joint ticket (about 20 euros); from the same door you can take a bus that goes up to the Palacio da Pena, and then from there you already look for another bus to reach Quinta Regaleira.

The Castle is no big deal and I would leave it, although you can walk a piece of the wall without paying entrance. If you do, always go straight and you will find a cafeteria with beautiful mountain views. You can go when you leave the Palace, because it is a few meters away and it will be good for you to rest before going to Quinta Regaleira. To eat, in the same town you will see countless crowded bars.

By the way, if you have time I recommend you visit a very beautiful park in Lisbon: Jardim da Estrela. I lived right next door and ran around there from time to time. It's a magic place; in front is the Estrela church and on one side there is a small and beautiful cemetery (called 'cemetery of the English). Everything is very close to the center, you can go on a walk.

Anyway, I don't roll up anymore. Mine with Lisbon is absolute devotion, it is my better half, hehe. If you have any questions, write here and I answer you, I get the notices to the mail.

By the way, thanks to the owner of the blog for leaving us this space to interact.

Thank you very much for answering guys, Sintra is a wonder, it is advisable to arrive early because there are fewer people, I visited the Castle of the Moors practically alone, a passing view and very interesting, hence I went to the Palacio da Pena, although they were rehabilitating it is beautiful, the bad, the groups of tourists that get stuck and do not let you see it at your own pace so if it were again I would put it in the first place, do not forget to see the lakes that are around, to get lost and not lol back and the best Quinta da Regaleira, spectacular gardens full of surprises, tunnels, caves, fountains, etc. A friend recommended it to me and it was right.
On the way to Cascáis I took the bus that left me in Cabo da Roca, really beautiful cliffs and views that are very worthwhile, 100% recommended.
As for Cascáis, the truth is that it is not worth much, it is the typical beach town with a lot of name and little to see, the marina and little else and you who come from a city with sea will not discover anything really significant.
Estoril, only has the name and the casino, completely expendable. I hope you can escape soon, we keep reading ...

We also spent three days in Lisbon (we used the fourth day for Sintra and Cascais and the trip back to Évora) and it was very useful. Above all, because the best thing about Lisbon is to get lost in its streets and contemplate the views from its viewpoints at different times of the day, at least for us.
