7 RESTAURANTS WHERE TO EAT IN HOLBOX WELL AND CHEAP

The island of Holbox seemed to us one of the most beautiful places in the Yucatan Peninsula and, although we were not lucky with the weather, we enjoyed a lot of it (and we are looking forward to returning). And the fundamental reason was because in Holbox there are many restaurants and places where you eat great. After going through several of them, today we will recommend you 7 restaurants to eat in Holbox well and cheap.

One of the gastronomic specialties of Holbox is, nothing more and nothing less, than the Lobster Pizza! We couldn't resist trying it and we came to this place, where they say it was invented (they also say that Holbox's best lobster pizza is eaten here, so we don't doubt it). And we liked it, so that we lie. Of course the dough is not Italian pizza but we are in Mexico! The big pizza is worth $ 500 and can eat 2 people.

We spent here our last night on the island we enjoyed the place, both for its food as per its environment. We tried the shrimp shoes and a grilled fish. Plus: the cocktails are dead. If you want to stick a real feast, opt for seafood grill for two that includes a whole fish, shrimp, clams, crabs, ceviche, lobster and octopus. It costs $ 800 (€ 36).

We have different opinions about this place: I liked it a lot, to regular Rober. Let me tell you. The object of the tirade is the dish of octopus with garlic mojo... if you like, like me, strong flavors try it! If not ... you better choose Rober's choice: a fish ceviche (It was not the best of the trip but it was rich and was plentiful). Prices per plate: 170 $ -150 $. Eye: it is a very busy restaurant, if you do not want to queue, you better arrive early (or rather late).

It is a bit far from the center of town (let's see, the island is tiny so it is 5 minutes away), but it certainly deserves to get close to try its seafood based dishes. We ordered a plate of Garlic shrimp (very abundant and delicious) and a tikinxic fish (rich, but better shrimp). Our table neighbors asked for lobster and, really, we were very envious. Extra tip: to drink ask for fresh mango and passion fruit water, delicious. In total we pay $ 450.

We would have loved to eat in this beach bar with local atmosphere but finally we ran out (just the day we were going, they closed early). And where does his fame come from? We had read that here they prepare a fish with passion fruit sauce and some lobster patties great. So if someone goes ... tell us how.

A very good option for dinner and try some of the most famous mexican dishes, such as tacos, quesadillas, cakes, nachos, burritos and gringas. Everything is very tasty, but when in doubt, ask for tacos and gringas (pastor and arrachera). They don't sell beer but you can buy it in the supermarket next door.

How can something as simple as a omelette raise so many passions? We do not know but that is ... and the tortilla they prepare here is very tasty (with onion, as it should be). Eye: there are many more varieties (ham and cheese, chaya and mushrooms and there is even a vegan version). The prices are not super low: the whole tortilla (for two) costs $ 150 but it is money well invested considering that it includes an astral trip to Spain. Come on, it's one of the best places to have breakfast in Holbox (also open for lunch).

- At night we recommend you try the tacos of the street stalls They get in the square. They are cheap and the local atmosphere is cool.

- There are also positions that prepare marquee, a kind of waffle with chocolate and ball cheese! We prefer the sweet version, without cheese ... but try to see how it goes.

- There's a super Pretty big on the main street. Is named Dunosusa Albarrote, it is a good place to buy drinks, cookies, coffee ...
