In this post we will tell you what are the 10 essential places to visit in Southeast Asia (for us, of course). Before telling you, let us tell you something:

1. I don't know how to choose, nor do I like it. I think this phobia comes to me since I was little when they took me to a mega shoe store and asked me to please choose a single pair. ONE. How is it done?

2. Choosing 10 sites in Southeast Asia for me is like asking a mother to choose her favorite child, it's cruel. But I will make the effort. For you huh!

3. I have thought of this list only as top 10 places, because if I start tidying up everything I like from Southeast Asia I need another 3 posts.

That said, here are the 10 essential places in Southeast Asia!

10: PERHENTIAN ISLAND, MALAYSIA

A paradise island never hurts, why deny it? We have had a great time here!

What to do?

  • Friendship with giant lizards (supposedly they are vegetarians but I saw an Australian enter the forest with his little lizard and I have not seen him again ...).
  • Snorkeling in Coral Bay.
  • Eat eat eat.
  • Sunbathe until it looks like a strawberry from Huelva.
  • Play with the waves as if you were a little mermaid.

Moment: Heart attack avoided by a miracle when returning from the bathroom and finding the first two-meter lizard. The virgin that scared! And the territorial fish with the most bad ostia in history!

9: MUANG NGOI NEUA, LAOS

Another site for our favorite sport: l'hammacking.

What to do?

  • Lie in the hammock reading a good book or looking at the photos of the trip.
  • Stroll through the main and only alley in the town.
  • Explore the caves and fields that surround it (trying to avoid snakes and tractor accidents).
  • Eat cheese and chicken snacks at all hours.
  • Play with the local kids.

What not to do?

  • Getting drunk with Lao Lao (by God, WHO would have to ban it! I saw a dragon with hobbit feet swinging in my hammock after a few shots of this drink!).

Moment: The Pepismo (read the post below for more info, but better than not! haha).

8: BANGKOK, THAILAND

And they have the courage to call her Los Angeles City. For me it looks more like Sin City. Everyone criticizes her, and rightly so: there are bad, ugly and refeasible things. But everyone goes, and they come back. And they like it. We love.

What to do?

  • Grab a free tuk tuk in exchange for making some paripé in an Indian shop of tailored suits, hihi
  • Eat come eat: pad thai, curries, strange things, chocolate desserts, drink chiang beer and get drunk a little with a bucket!
  • Meet travelers.
  • Get lost wandering around.
  • Make a temple route.
  • Take many photos, few cities are as photogenic as she is!

Moment: Mc Donalds moments with Lee el Rompesillas and the two Chileans.

7: BOROBUDUR, INDONESIA

One of the most magical places we have ever walked! Definitely… .

What to do?

  • Meet a couple of rare Germans, no more, who sing a catchy song all the time than the Gangnam Style “Teryyyma Kasiiii Ti-Dak!”
  • Take photoshoot and feel a diva since all the Indonesians who are there for tourism will ask you to pose for them which inspiring muse!
  • Harden your buttocks up and down the stairs, so the next fried pancake with peanuts will not cause you any guilt (... as if this could stop my animal instinct!).

Moment: the rare weird German who puts a stomachache in a street stall ... we have always said it, being short is cool!

6: HALONG BAY, VIETNAM

After having forgotten a backpack with the important things, after our motorcycle was stolen, after having been so cold in Hanoi that not even Big Foot knows what is going on ... Vietnam gave us our reward: Halong Bay!

What to do?

  • Hallucinate with the panorama, is that really ???
  • Karaoke on the cruise.
  • Kayaking through the green waters to be able to fall without falling.
  • After being fed up with pho bo enjoy dinner on the cruise, a real mochi-luxury!
  • Sign up for the fishing of the cuttlefish in the middle of the night, what a strange thing!

Moment: being in the middle of nowhere when a Vietnamese rowing in a boat selling beers approaching… but what is this? (with intonation of Mauricio Colmenero).

5: THE NEST, PHILIPPINES

Although we already had the energies to the limit, in El Nido we recharged with one of the best snorkeles we ever did

What to do?

  • Snorkeling! This is paradise!
  • All the tours, we only did one ... very big mistake, we had to have done as Loida and Cristian and repeat them hehe
  • Eat the longest hot dogs we've seen.
  • Sing the Black Eyed Eeas song "Filipino" in a jeepney.
  • Total relaxation on the beach of the cabins!
  • Avoid giant squid, sharks, killer whales and the Loch Ness monster clinging to the ship's ladder while everyone snorkeling offshore ... unconscious!

Moment: catch a fart in the Mexican restaurant and run around the bar trying to catch a crab that just wanted to try the nachos.

4: KOH RONG, CAMBODIA

Yes, I can definitely say it: we are from the beach! But how not to fall in love with places like that?

What to do?

  • Stroll along the beach.
  • Getting lost in the jungle to the viewpoint.
  • Sticking a good ostia rolling on a log (these are the typical things that would happen to me, but this time it's my turn to Rober hihihi).
  • Eat amok looking at the sea.
  • Have a lizard and a rat that spy on you from the ceiling while you're in bed. Old greens!
  • Want to die on the ship back to Shianoukville because you would rather end all this suffering of huge waves while your unscrupulous girlfriend eats a sandwich on your face (gentlemen, when you are hungry you have to eat!).

Moment: the green lizard that spied on us while we were in bed. I even saw him smile!

3: ANGKOR, CAMBODIA

If you go to Asia, you have to go to Angkor, if it's not like going to Rome and not eating Giolitti ice cream: a crime!

What to do?

  • Forget about tours, tuk tuk and cars: Angkor is visited by bicycle, at your leisure!
  • Put on your alarm and pedal pedal and pedal to not miss one of the most beautiful sunrises you can ever see!
  • Bargain the price of everything, even food.
  • Visit as many temples as you can, but for nothing in the world miss Angkor Wat, Bayon and Phrom.
  • Take a thousand photos!
  • Take your time to take advantage of the 8th wonder of the world.

Moment: Beat any speed record when arriving by bike from Siem Reap. I believe that at that moment something supernatural happened and the spirit of Roadrunner along with the strength of Indurain in his best age appropriated my legs. What a feeling! And that the guard of a temple asks me for the ticket and when he sees the photo he tells me: Here you were more fresh! MA VAFFANCULO!

2: BALI, INDONESIA

Every time I think of Bali, my heart, soul and stomach find their peace: what an island!

What to do?

  • Rent a motorcycle, run away from Kuta and explore the island at your leisure.
  • Eat, for god's sake! For us the best cuisine in Southeast Asia ... take advantage of it ... don't miss satay lilit by dioooos!
  • Beaches, rice paddies, volcanoes, fun, adventure, relax ... it has everything! Just decide what you want and you will have it!
  • Soak up the unique culture of the island by talking with its people and visiting its places of worship.
  • Fall in love with the monkeys who feel reflective looking at the sea ... I would love to know what they think!

Moment: Kuta, we are eating and reading emails and Facebook when I see about 10 messages from people asking us if we are well, if we have felt the earthquake ... EARTHQUAKE? My mother! I get in the news and see that there was an earthquake throughout Sumatra and that a tsunami is expected, it will arrive in Bali at 19.55. I look at the time: 19.52. AAAAAAHHHH! It turns out then to be a tsunami of something like 2 cm ... but what a synchronization!

And the winner is: BAGAN

Sometimes what surprises you most is something you had not planned ... and so it happened: Myanmar for us was the best of the trip. And Bagan surely the most beautiful we've ever seen.

What to do?

  • Feel small watching the sunrise sitting on top of one of the thousands of temples on the plain of Bagan.
  • Cycle until you don't feel your legs because of the pain, nor your head because of the heat ... it's worth it!
  • Eat gnocchi in an Italian, they will be very bad, so the next time you cook yours in comparison they will be great and nobody will complain.
  • Talk to the locals, the best of Myanmar.
  • Make a change makeuppero: give your lipstick to a girl, and in return she will make up with the thanaka.

What not to do?

  • Put your hand, foot or any other part of your beautiful body on top of a snake, bug or animal with legs!

Moment: Climb (as if it were Everest) at 4am the Shwesandaw Paya temple to see the sunrise, the feeling of being ALONE surrounded by millenary temples and accompanied by the singing of the most deflated roosters in history ... we will never forget it!
