You want study English in New Zealand, live an unforgettable experience and return home speaking English? We tell you where, how, when and why to do it.

You can also combine your studies at school with a temporary job, to be able to finance your stay in distant lands. With the student visa you are allowed to work a limit of hours. This way you can live an experience of study and work at the same time!

We, as we told you, went to the Worldwide School and we advise you without a doubt! The school is headquartered in Auckland, but you can also study at their schools in Napier, Wellington or Queenstown. Personally, Auckland seemed like a perfect city, it is dynamic, not too touristy (for whatever reason, it doesn't have the reputation of being beautiful), although with lots of things to do, it boasts restaurants of all kinds (and for all pockets), and a fun nightlife!

Queenstown would be our second destination on the list, a tiny city but in an idyllic setting, perfect for lovers of outdoor activities and risky sports. But be careful because the colder months (from March to October) are colder than in Auckland.

The last place in the top3 would be for Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. Despite that, it is a medium sized city, quite quiet and pleasant. He is reputed to have a cool nightlife, though, the wind is a point against it (they call it the Windy Welly)

And you know what? There is a program, the combo school (from 4 to more than 12 weeks) that will allow you to study in 2 or 4 locations, so, in addition to learning English, you can get to know different places!

You will have to get one student visa. But do not get overwhelmed: it is not complicated, especially because, and although it may sound absurd (for us it still is), the best thing is do it through agency. Why? Because, as we could see, the prices of the courses are usually cheaper through an agency than directly contracted in the schools.

Each country has agencies that can provide you with advice, if you want information about the “Worldwide School” school we leave you the contact of Marina, which leads the countries of Latin America and Spain: [email protected]

What we recommend is to compare andhire the package at an online agency, how Growpro. There are quite a few options, from 1 month courses (starting at 1,120 NZD), to longer stays, combining the course with work, etc. More info and hiring.

You can apply for your visa throughout the year, although our advice is: take advantage of the summer months from New Zealand (from September to February). Being a fairly long country (1,600km from north to south), the weather is very different in its different areas. Here we leave you the average weather data during the year of Auckland and Queenstown:

Because English, today, is fundamental. In school you will take away the first fears of speaking English. When you get together with people who are also learning it, you will be one more, so you don't have to hide from pronunciation failures or not knowing how to express an idea. Because it is a unique experience that will allow you learn english and meet lots of people.

We also tell you a secret: did you know that with the student visa you can work and win a little money to continue your travels? Obviously it is not the WHV, but if you run out of it and want to learn English, the student visa is a perfect solution. You can work up to 20 hours per week and combine studies with a work experience. In fact in many English schools there are special courses to learn a trade, as a waiter, in which they teach you a special language, with terminology of the sector, and even to make coffees or serve tables!

Depending on the course you have chosen, you will have a number of course hours per day. First they will make you a level test quite effective. With the results you will be assigned a class. We were in different classes (in this way they ensure that you socialize and do not always stay with the same people), we were a total of 8 or 10 people, so the classes became super fluid.

We had teaching hours from Monday to Friday, in the morning Three hours and another 2 in the afternoon. The classes were very dynamic, with a lot of participation and quite informal. We feel comfortable from the first moment. From time to time he went down to the computer room to give interactive classes, etc.

In addition, the school itself was encouraged to perform activities outside the classroom. On Wednesdays for example it was the pub night, other days he stayed to go play rugby, movie night, excursions, etc.

Every two weeks there are evaluation, if you have increased your level of English you will pass to a higher course, with new students, another teacher, etc. In the end you will see that you will end up meeting half of the school!

The course ends at mid-afternoon, so you have time to continue exploring the city, go to dinner at different restaurants, stroll through new neighborhoods, etc. In addition, weekends are free, it is the perfect time to get away!

We spent a little time, but the people who signed up for the longer courses were delighted. In the end they create a link with the rest of their classmates and it is the closest thing to a family that you can have thousands of kilometers from your home.

Here we tell you our experience in the English course in Auckland.

The final price depends of the duration of the course, of the type of course (whether it is intensive or not), also in the school itself they can help you to find accommodation and include in the package. It is best that you take a look at the prices of each school and agency and compare.
