HOW TO GET TO WARSAW FROM THE AIRPORT

You already have your plane ticket to Warsaw, the little hotel and you already know everything you have to visit. But now you have to investigate how to get to the center from the airport, is that so? But first let us tell you one thing: in Warsaw there is two airports: Chopin and Modlin. Let's see how to get to the city center of Warsaw from each one.

10 km south of the city, in the area ofOkęcie (That's why it's sometimes called that). To get to the center of Warsaw you have these options:

TRAIN

The airport train station is called “Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina” and two types of trains pass through here:

• SKM: the suburban train.
• KML (Koleje Mazowieckie): Mazovia railways with more travel.

The SKM It has two lines that connect Chopin airport with Warsaw:

• Line S2, direction Sulejówek Miłosna, with stops near the center in Warszawa Śródmieście (within walking distance of Warszawa Centralna), Warszawa Powiśle and across the Vistula River in Warszawa Stadion and Warszawa Wschodnia. • Line S3, direction Wieliszew, with stops near the center in Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Wschodnia across the river. It is an “express” train that skips some stops and passes every 30 minutes. (Full map and all stops of Line S3)

The KML, is the line is the RL in direction Legionowo Przystanek. It stops at Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Wschodnia. (Full map and all stops of the RL line)

Price: the airport station is within zone 1 and does not have a special rate, applying normal transport prices in Warsaw. For SKM trains these are:

• 20-minute ticket: 3.40 PLN (without)
• 75-minute ticket: PLN 4.40
• 90-minute ticket: 7 PLN
• Ticket for a group of up to 10 people of 75 minutes: PLN 22.00
• 1-day ticket: PLN 15.00. 24 hours from validation
• 3-day ticket: PLN 36.00. 72 hours since validation
• Weekend ticket: PLN 24.00. From 19:00 on Friday until 8:00 on Monday.
• Weekend ticket for a group of up to 10 people: PLN 40.00. From 19:00 on Friday until 8:00 on Monday.

The ticket must be validated once you get on the train.

Where to buy the ticket: For suburban (SKM) lines, tickets are issued by the ZTM entity, the local transport operator. You can buy them at the vending machines at the station and on the train itself, or at the ZTM counter outside the arrivals hall.

For the KML you will have to buy the ticket at your own vending machine or on board the train (with a surcharge of 4 PLN). We believe that tickets cost something more, about 6 PLN. More information on the KML website.

BUS

There are up to 5 lines connecting the Chopin Airport with different points in Warsaw. Buses leave from the bus terminal at the same level of arrivals.

• Line 175. Go along Aleje Jerozolimskie Avenue to Centrum station and then continue north.
• Line 188. It travels further south on Wawelska Street and passes near Łazienki Królewskie Park and crosses the river to the Prague district
• Line 148. It does not pass through the center, it reaches the Prague district.
• Line 331. Reach the Wilanowska Metro station, it doesn't matter.
• N32 line The night line that makes the direct route to the Centrum station. From 23:15 to 04:49.

The rates are the same as for the SKM train.

CAB

The approximate fare from the Chopin airport to the center of Warsaw is 40 PLN. We went in Uber and it cost us 20 PLN, you have to take it from floor 1, at the departures terminal.

It is the furthest airport, 40 km from Warsaw, and is where Ryanair operates. These are the ways to get to the city center from Modlin airport

TRAIN

There is no own station at Modlin airport, but the train arrives at the nearest city, of the same name, about 5 km. There are trains Koleje Mazowieckie (KML) that make the journey between Modlin and the Warszawa Centralna station. To do this from the airport you will have to take the bus service to the train station and, once there, get on to Warsaw. The total journey takes about 1 hour. Bus and train schedules.

A combined bus + train ticket costs 19 PLN. More information on the KML website. (Look for the airport as "Modlin Lotnisko"). It also includes transport within zone 1 (in the center of Warsaw), by any means (subway, bus or tram), within 75 minutes after the ticket has been validated. If you do the reverse route, the ticket is also valid for transport in zone 1, but be careful because you will not be able to open the subway door, so access it through the elevators.

BUS

At the moment there is only one company that offers the journey from Modlin Airport to the center of Warsaw: Modlinbus. Departure times are adapted to flight arrivals and you can buy the ticket online, at counters inside the airport or directly on the bus. The price is between 28 and 33 PLN, although you can find offers online from 9 PLN. More info.

The stop in Warsaw is very close to the Palace of Culture and Science, where many trams, buses and the Centrum metro station pass, with connections to other parts of the city.

CAB

The price to get to the center of Warsaw from Modlin airport by taxi should be around 120-150 PLN. In Uber, the price is about 115 PLN.
