If you are thinking of visiting the island of Redang in Malaysia and do not know how to get here, here are some tips that can help you.

How to get to Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Lumpur by bus.

There are many companies that offer this route, three of them are Plusliner, Transnasional and Cepat & Cekap Express. Normally it takes about 6 or 7 hours, so if the bus is daytime you should stay at least one night in Kuala Terengganu and leave the next day for Redang on the ferry. A good idea is to take a night bus to save the hotel night and make better use of time. The bus station in Kuala Terengganu is 15 minutes walk from the Jetty, where you will have to take the ferry.

- The price is around 30 MYR.

How to get to Kuala Terengganu from Mersing by bus

If you leave from the Tioman Islands on the 09:30 ferry you will arrive at the Mersing Jetty at 11:30. The bus station is not more than 1 km from the port, within 15 minutes you have done it, but a taxi will charge you 8 MYR. From the station several direct buses leave from Mersing to Kuala Terengganu (with Transnasional for example it leaves at 11:30). If you do not have a reservation (as it happened to us) everyone may be full so you will have to make the trip in two sections: we did it this way: Mersing - Kuantan, with the company Mara Lines that leaves at 11:45 and it takes about 3 hours and is priced at 18.90 MYR. And Kuantan - Kuala Terengganu, with the company Nini Ekspres that leaves at 6:00 pm and takes about 4 hours and costs MYR 19.70. We buy the tickets at the respective stations. But we advise that a few days before you ask an agency or directly at the hotel and make the bus reservation to get a place and arrive directly.

- The price of the bus from Mersing to Kuantan was MYR 18.90 and from Kuantan to Kuala Terengganu it was from 19.70 MYR.

Ferry from Kuala Terengganu Jetty (Shahbandar jetty) to Redang

We had it included with the stay at Laguna Redang. There are several resorts that include it so if you do not have accommodation it is a good idea to opt for one of these, as the ferry is not cheap. For more transport information you can visit this page. The Jetty is practically in the city center, 15 minutes walking from the bus station. The journey is approximately 2 hours and the departure times are: 9.00am, 10.30am, 3.00pm. We do not believe there is a need to book in advance.

- The price for what we see is 110 MYR round trip. A pasta!

Entrance fee to the marine park of Redang

5 MYR that gives you the right to go to the maritime park in a snorkeling exile If you want to do more, in your hotel you can pay another 5 MYR.
