Osaka is the gastronomic capital of Japan: on each side you will find food and leave this city without having gained a couple of kilos is a feat (although good morning!).

If you love food and are passionate about Japanese cuisine, these are the 5 dishes that we advise you to try in Osaka:

TAKOYAKI

These are balls of flour and butter (pancake type) to which a piece of tako (Japanese octopus) is introduced. They are cooked in an iron full of round holes and in a very curious way: they are constantly turning with wooden sticks, until they acquire the ideal color. Once ready they are thrown over okonomyaki sauce, aonori (seaweed powder), katsuobushi (dried nice shavings) and yum ... to eat!

OKONOMYAKI

Okonomyaki is one of the most curious dishes in Japan. Defined by some as' the pizza 'from the country of the rising sun, okonomyaki is a flour dough base to which ingredients such as cabbage, pork, prawns, cuttlefish and whatever you want are added (in fact okonomyaki means' cooked to your liking ') and that is grilled. To finish it, as in the case of takoyaki, aonori, katsuobushi, okonomyaki sauce and mayonnaise are tossed on them. There is another type of okonomyaki, that of Hiroshima, which includes fried noodles among the ingredients.

KUSHIKATSU

They are skewered with fish, prawns, octopus, cheese, meat, vegetables ... fried and fried in a bittersweet soy sauce (eye that can only be soaked in the sauce once, if you want to take more you will have to do it with a leaf cabbage!). They're delicious! The Shinsekai neighborhood is the best place to try them, accompanied by a very cool beer they feel great!

GYOZAS

What about the gyozas (dumplings, if you want to see the recipe click here) that we have not said yet? We love these fried dumplings, they are one of our favorite foods and they are also cheap!

KITZUNE UDON

This udon soup (thick noodles) is special for its fried tofu rectangle. This dish originated in Osaka although it is not difficult to find it in other places in Japan. As a curiosity to tell you that kitsune means fox (the animal eh!) And this soup is called that since in Japan they say that foxes (always the animal) love fried tofu.

Do you know other typical Osaka dishes?
