KAIKOURA: LOVE AT A GLANCE

In this post 'kaikoura: what to see and do' we will tell you everything you need to visit this beautiful city of New Zealand ... but first let me tell you something ...
Legend has it that the one who did Kaikoura had to be well inspired: the Creator, whoever he was, had to have caught a good high to do something so deliciously rare.
The Pacific Ocean, with its changing colors and its capricious waves in front, and behind the protective mountains with snowy peaks. Here and there a handful of cows, and obviously never missing the sheep, that for something we are in New Zealand. Ponemoles also a dozen surfers looking for the biggest wave and a few backpackers with a look of astonishment looking at the landscape ... But the illuminated artist did not seem enough.

He decided to give Kaikoura the most beautiful starry sky there is and to enjoy it nothing better than a cool beer on the beach, while cooking a barbecue worthy of a God.

But I was not satisfied either. Then he added an even more special touch to the mix: sea lions with their noses up looking for the sun's rays on the rocks, some albatross watching everything go in order in the clouds, some quiet, but chubby whales in the sea and voila: the idyllic place was created.

Everyone was happy and happy, all but the crayfish, the specialty of the area: while everyone enjoys their Kaikoura they end up on the plates before, and on the bellies afterwards.
Well, I just invented the legend, but nothing would surprise me if something like that had really happened: Kaikoura is cool, and a lot.

We spent 3 days here in which we fully enjoyed the Pacific Ocean in an idyllic setting. Such places are those that steal our hearts, those who whisper in our ears "stay more, what a hurry you have" and on the other give us the even greater impulse to continue traveling to know and discover more Kaikouras lost there , that some crazy and slightly placed creator did for us to enjoy.

USEFUL INFO

This is the map of our tour:

Where to sleep

: there is a campsite about 10km north of Kaikoura. The site is beautiful, facing the sea, on a beach of surfers. The atmosphere is also very entertaining. Actually, there is only a nonflush bathroom something guarrete and a few spaces to park the campervans, but the place is incredible. Super recommended.

What to do: there is a colony of sea lions at the end of Kaikoura. The best views of the surroundings are obtained from a lookout at the entrance of the town, at the end of Scarborough St.

Where to eat: on the beach of course! In the campsite there are some stone piles (which you can improve) to make fire and protect it from the air. Buy some sausages at the New World on Beach Road and dinner is served!
