Day 1: BARCELONA - ZURICH - TEL AVIV

Friday, December 21, 2012

Our day has begun like any other working day of the year, but with a very substantial difference and that, without a doubt, makes us jump from the bed to the first beep of the alarm clock: today we are leaving trip to Israel and Palestine!!!
We have everything ready for why we left for the airport after work, so those last hours of work become endless until that internal alarm sounds again indicating that the time has come to turn off computers and go out whistling.
Pick up Roger at home and we will eat a menu before we make our way to Barcelona where before going to the airport we have to do a couple of visits and errands.
Our flight is at 19.50h and at 18.00h we have already left the car in our usual parking and we are already on T1 in Barcelona, having a coffee to help us spend the remaining hours we have until we reach what will be our first accommodation in Israel and Palestine.

Road to the airport to catch our flight from Barcelona to Tel Aviv

This time it will be a difficult round trip because of the “untimely” hours of flight from Barcelona to Tel Aviv. The one-way flight is at 19.50h and we stop in Zurich (1 hour), from where we will fly again, this time to Tel Aviv at 10:45 p.m. That means we will land on Israeli lands at 03:30 a.m.
Between we collect the bags, we pass the entry procedures and collect the rent a car in Israel minimum will spend 1 hour. And why have we chosen? Well, to continue the day of the pull without sleep ... Madness? Well, surely… But that's how we decided 🙂
And with these thoughts we embark without problems, we arrive in Zurich and make the change of Terminal in about 15 minutes, something that we already verified that could be done on our trip to India a few months ago and still gives us time to wait a while in the boarding gate
We planned to meet some security checkpoint, but there is nothing.

The surprise is when an SMS arrives, informing us that the flight is overbooked and they offer 460 crowns if you want to be relocated in another ... We look at each other with a doubtful face, but it only lasts a few seconds. With the desire we have for this trip to Israel and Palestine, we do not plan to delay it for a few hours!

We embark again without problems and we check for a thousand times all the documentation that they had sent us so kindly from the Israel Tourist Office in Madrid. Here we must make a brief note about it and we can not miss the opportunity to thank them greatly for the help they have given us in the preparation of the trip, not only by sending us plans, information ... etc., but also by helping us with the many doubts we had and suggesting places to visit in the days we will be touring the Holy Land ... And so we spend the rest of the flight hours, between readings, videos ... and the occasional little head ...
