Day 4: MASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK

November 2, 2010

Today we get up early, the Kenya safaris It is convenient to start them when the sun rises, so as usual, they wake us up at 5 in the morning to start our rite: breakfast, tear down shops, load the truck, rest for a while and start the Masai Mara safari.
Today's idea is to go through much of the Masai Mara National Park, to see everything we can.
We have 2 days to explore it, so we have to take it easy to avoid being saturated with both safari and animals.
After a while starting the safari we see the first two lions lying in the shade of a tree.

They did not move at all the time we were watching and taking pictures. So we could capture all the snapshots we wanted.

From this park, we are stopping a lot, but we begin to realize how the vision changes ... now we look at zebras and gazelles as usual, it seems incredible !! And that we only took a few days !!

After a good time for him Masai Mara park, we see another lion, this much closer, that ends up sheltering itself to the left of a tree.

Looking to the other side, we see a male, hidden in a bush, the image of the face sticking out is for a perfect photo.

At mid-morning we begin to see the first elephants.

Some of them quite close, which occasionally moved their ears, as a sign of "care" with their young nearby.

It is impressive to see these animals so close. We can't stop looking at them, trying to keep every detail.
They are the first we see so close, just a few meters from the truck.
Suddenly we see that a huge male approaches the truck, the first reaction is to start taking pictures, but when we see that it gets closer, that feeling of "half fear" begins in which you do not know what to do.
But that did not last long, the time that passed since we thought that, until we had it right next to it !!
Today has already been worth it ... just for this!
The silence can be cut. We dare not even comment on what we have just seen until the truck starts again.
It's time to eat and we stop in a camping area and as always we eat very well: salads, sausages ... then coffee and again to our "second house" to continue with the Masai Mara safari!

In the afternoon we saw the first hippos in a pond quite far away.

But the best came already when we were going to the camp of Masai Mara National Park in Kenya.
Suddenly the driver saw 2 cheetahs and did not hesitate to get off the track to get closer to the maximum!
If the elephant was an inexplicable sensation, this has already been perfect.

We cannot ask for more daily. We have complied perfectly. We can go to sleep with a full “stomach”!
After the excitement, we set off for the camping area.
We arrived around 5.30 and the guide offered us the possibility of not in tents, if not in others already assembled.
The bathrooms were still common, but we didn't have to assemble or disassemble. Being a campsite, we have this possibility.
I think few doubt it and we saw ourselves as who does not want the thing with our stores already assembled! And all for 15 euros nothing.
The tents were more spacious and had a small porch with 2 chairs in front.
Next to the Masai Mara National Park stores We also have a restaurant, so tonight is presented again without dinner in the open.
After showering, we go to the restaurant to have dinner the food that Simon and the rest have prepared for us, which as always is delicious.
Before leaving the store for dinner, we follow the other “ritual”, spray ourselves with relec.
At sunrise and sunset it is when mosquitoes bite the most Kenya, so we try not to forget neither the relec nor the famous Malarone.
Before the trip we had been recommended to spray clothes with a pharmacy liquid, which in the end turned out to be anti-lice! This against the tse tse fly and in the end it worked, we were not bitten by one ... and mosquitoes, we only had a couple of bites that were nothing from the other world.
After dinner and the daily talk, we go to our spectacular shops and spend some time on the porch, enjoying the night of Kenya.
It is even mad to go to sleep and miss this spectacle of nature.
