Day 12: ZANZIBAR BEACHES

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Today we can rest a little more, but for that reason, we get up early, to see the sunrise and have breakfast with time. We have met at 10 in the morning that we will come to find the taxi to travel the beaches of Zanzibar.
We have breakfast with fresh fruit, toast, juice and coffee. The food is very good and abundant, the truth is that we can not complain !!
The rest of the group leaves before the excursion they have hired and while we take the opportunity to read the newspapers a bit online.

At 10 minutes from our taxi arrives and Gemma, from the Karamba Resort, gives you the instructions of where you have to stop and the hours you have to leave us to enjoy each Zanzibar Beach.

In 15 minutes, we reach the first Zanzibar Beach: Jambiani.

We are with him that we will be about 2 hours and then we will go looking for him about 2 kilometers down the beach (that is the distance we thought ... in the end it turned out that for them 2 km ... they are more than 5.
The view of this Zanzibar Beach It is impressive, the tide has not yet gone down and we have an immense tongue of sand surrounded by turquoise water.

In this area, with the tide as it is now, you can't swim, just to get wet to your knees, you have to walk about 300 meters.
But the landscape is impressive, so what matters least to us is that, although with the heat that it starts to do, it would not be bad to be able to take a dip.

Almost without realizing it we see that more than 1 hour and a half has passed, so we set off to find the taxi, to take us to the next Zanzibar Beach.

We walk along the shore of the beach, admiring the landscape. The tide is going down and we begin to see the boats that stay in the sand, giving the beach a spectacular view.

We keep walking and we still don't see the hotel where we have stayed. We stopped a couple of times to ask and they tell us that everything is straight about 10 minutes walk, but we keep walking and nothing.

In the end a boy who walks along the beach, accompanies us, while we chat a little about Zanzibar and Spain.
In the end we arrive at the hotel and find the taxi driver, we calculate that we have walked about 5 kilometers or so and we are already red as prawns of the ride under the sun.

From here we are on our way to Page, where we will eat in an Italian restaurant that Gemma has recommended and how far it takes us about 10 minutes to arrive.
To get to the beaches, we cross the villages and we are left with the desire to be able to go down and take a walk, but today we have the day quite complete and we are going with the idea of visiting the beaches.
We found the restaurant as soon as we arrived and we decided to stop for lunch, we ordered some starters and a couple of pasta dishes.
And "pole, pole" serve us. It took us more than 3 hours to eat and leave the restaurant. But we eat very well and for a fairly reasonable price, so we won't complain too much.
After coffee we go for a walk on the beach of Page, but the tide is already very low and we sit on one of the sun loungers to rest for a while.
We are little more than half an hour doing the digestion and we are going to look for the taxi again, to go to the last beach.
It is 4 in the afternoon and the truth is that we are already a little tired of the sun, but we decided to go, even if only for a while.
In another 15 minutes we reach the last beach and there we are walking for about 20 minutes.
We place ourselves in the shade of a palm tree and see people stroll along the beach with bikes, motorcycles ... Just to see these scenes is worth having come here.

After being bathed in sand and quite burned (despite 50 protection), we decided it is time to return to the hotel Zanzibar.
In less than half an hour we are back at the hotel and we go straight to take a shower and to the pool.
We have a drink and spend the rest of the afternoon of total relaxation taking advantage of the hotel facilities. We also take the opportunity to see a spectacular sunset and take pictures of the hotel area of Tanzania.
About 8 pm we have dinner and how we do each day, before going to sleep, we have a drink and we will see our little piece of starry sky ...
Tomorrow will be our last full day at the Karamba Resort and we have all day to enjoy it.
We have decided that we will spend the day here and we will approach, when the tide drops, to a nearby beach, which is about 2 kilometers away.
We'll continue tomorrow…
