We always say that a trip begins at the moment it first appears in our thinking.
Perhaps that is the main reason why we say that we are traveling continuously. Even when we don't have a closed destination, we continually stroll along that map that occupies a special place in our lives, looking for new places to discover.

Starting a trip ...

Those months that we spent planning the trip, we enjoyed them as if we were already in it and when the day of departure is approaching, it is when those nerves, which for us it is inevitable not to feel, appear without knowing very well why.
An example was the preparations for our trip to Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
It seems incredible that after the whole trip planning process, what is most stressful in the end is something that should cause us the opposite: to pack.

Bag? Backpack?… How to pack for a trip

To pack It is something that has always caused us nerves, it has even overwhelmed and anguish us for thinking that we would lack time.
Choosing to travel with a backpack or suitcase is quite easy to decide, based on the destination, but the rest of the process, that is, the "filling" of it, becomes an ordeal.
During all the time that this process lasts, we do not stop repeating that the same thing always happens to us, that in the destinations we always find everything, that there is no need to worry if we forget something ... that clothes are the least important ...
All these reflections, in the end end up causing more stress, which ends up causing a second review of everything that was already saved and a start over.
A vicious circle that is difficult, if not impossible to leave, until the suitcase / backpack does not disappear from our sight by the airport check-in tape.

The eternal wait at the airport

And even then, when it is disappearing from our sight, we look at it, totally convinced that something is missing inside it, that it will be lost… The question is never to leave the association of ideas “suitcase = stress”.
Perhaps these ideas are given by the couple of times we have been wanting to see it appear and it has taken its time ... sometimes even too much ... as it happened in our trip to Indonesia and in our trip to the West of the USA. .
The filling time of the suitcase / backpack is proportional to the destination we are going to or, failing that, to the lack of weather.
The latter brings us to the fearsome "just in case" that scares us so much and inevitably leads us to add 2 kilos, instantly to our luggage.
These 2 kilos, from time to time, are reduced when we return to the “review” step mentioned above and we have that moment of brilliant lucidity, in which we return to keep in the closet, the beautiful black coat that we had previously put for our trip to Sri Lanka in July, just in case it was cold: $
If the contents of the bag is difficult to decide, why talk about clothes ... that's the most complicated thing.
How many days will we be? We need a change every 3 days, but of course, we must wear some extra shirt in case we can not wash ... and if it is cold? And if it's hot with the long pants we wear?
Total, that in those minutes of "trunk" uncertainty, you return to take the beautiful black coat that you kept yesterday in the seventh review of luggage and re-enter the endless loop that causes the already feared question we ask ourselves in all trips: "Do we pack?"

Luck that we have discovered Zalando and at least, the theme of the choice of clothing and footwear has become much faster! Now we just have to spend more time choosing between all the options they have!
Buy clothes and shoes and pack your bags will be much faster!
