Riverside Cabanas

This was the first of the hotels in Sri Lanka and Maldives where we stayed. Hotel in Mirissa, 100 m from the beach and about 5 minutes walking.
Upon arrival at the entrance of the Riverside Cabanas, we realize that it is not just any hotel, the staff receives us at the same reception, where after accommodating us on some sofas, they bring us a couple of juices of natural fruit to freshen up… [ Read more… ]

River face inn

Hotel in Tissa, a little far from the center, but with a tuk tuk you reach the Lake Tewa area for about 100 rupees.
The enclosure is surrounded by incredible vegetation, next to a river.
Our room is in the lower part, right next to the dining room.
It is wide and very comfortable.
The bed is also very large and comfortable, but the pillow is quite hard.
We have a mosquito net in bed, something essential in Sri Lanka and more here that we are surrounded by vegetation.
The hotel staff is very nice. The food is quality and very good, although the service is a bit slow.
The breakfast for the safari is picnic, with a sandwich and bananas. Before leaving for the safari, at 5 in the morning, we have coffee and tea. This has been one of the charming accommodations that we could enjoy all the hotels in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Sunnyside Holiday Bungalow

Hotel in Ella, just 5 minutes from the main street, but on a fairly steep road.
A tuk tuk from the main street to the hotel leaves for about 100 rupees.
The room is quite spacious, with all amenities, including mosquito net.
Being in the middle of nature, the mosquito net is essential.
The bathroom is correct and spacious.
In bed we only have a very thin blanket and the first night, we had a little cold.
The owner is one of the nicest people we have ever met. The sweetest and most serene voice we have ever heard has a tone.
They have free Wi-Fi, which went well every day, except the last night I had cuts from time to time.
Breakfast is included in the price and is very complete. The fruit is collected from its own garden, the fruits too ...
Definitely recommended accommodation in Ella. This has been one of the most charming accommodations that we could enjoy the hotels in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The trevene

Hotel in Nuwara Eliya, quite central, next to Victoria Park.
The opinions on the internet are not too good, but we had a room, right at the entrance, large, very clean and with all the comforts, so we have no complaints.
They have wifi, but you only have a signal in the breakfast area, right next to the router and at 11 p.m. you turn off the lights and turn off the signal, whether or not you are in the lounge. Something that we are not going to fool ourselves, does not give very good impression.
At night, the best thing, if you are in the center of the city of Nuwara Eliya, is to take a tuk tuk that for 120 rupees can take you and thus save you from climbing a road that is very poorly lit.
The breakfast is very correct, but the staff is perhaps too aware of the customers.
One of the things we didn't like is that on the second day, breakfast was served as soon as we sat down and we found some toast that was like a stone and cold and some eggs that seemed fresh from the fridge of the cold ones that were .
When told, they immediately warmed us.
Another of the things that caught our attention and that had not happened to us since we arrived in Sri Lanka is that they worried a lot about trying to sell us a multitude of excursions, which we declined.
At night we saw that several organized groups arrived and in the morning, around 4 o'clock, the noise was quite noticeable, as it was the time they were collected to go to Horton Plains.

The skydale

Choose a hotel in Kandy It has not been an easy task. First, because of the number of options that exist and secondly, because the prices and the relationship of opinions we read on the internet were not entirely equivalent… [Read more ...]

Clay Hut Village

Hotel in Polonnaruwa.
Without hesitation the most lousy hotel we have been on the trip.
The facilities are quite damaged and the treatment received leaves much to be desired.
The opinions we had read on the internet were mostly pretty good, but now, after being there, we can assure you that they are not close to reality at all.
The rooms are very basic, they don't have any comfort.
We are charged for a basic dinner 750 rupees. The most expensive we have paid on our entire trip and the worst.
We cannot recommend it in any of the ways. This is the only accommodation on the entire trip that we have not been able to enjoy within all the hotels in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Gamodh Citadel Resort

Hotel in Anuradhapura, somewhat away from the city center.
The rooms are spacious and pleasant and clean.
We have high quality air conditioning available and Wi-Fi both in the common areas and in the room.
Breakfast is not included in the price of the room and costs 450 rupees per person, but is of a poor quality.
The lunches / dinners are more expensive than in the rest of hotels / guesthouses in the country and also have a debatable quality.
This hotel is ideal for a stopover if you only need to sleep, for the comfort of the rooms, but try to avoid meals and deals for excursions, transportation ... etc. Why do we intuit since we arrived that they wanted to take advantage.

Ripple Beach Inn

Hotel in Male. It is in the airport area and the price of the room is included in a "mandatory" way in transfer.
Upon arrival at the airport we had the hotel owner waiting for us to take us to the hotel on the beachfront.
The area is very quiet and we have shops and restaurants right next door, although in our case, being only one night waiting to catch the seaplane, we do not need such services.
The room is large, clean and with all the comforts.
Very correct and quality breakfast, also included in the price of the room.
We have free Wi-Fi connection in the room, with more than acceptable speed.
The hotel staff is excellent and takes care from the first moment of contacting our resort to provide us with the seaplane schedule… etc.
In Malé, counting that prices are generally high, in this case, they are justified.
In some websites and forums we have seen bad opinions about this accommodation, but in our case, it has been very correct.
