This year we have managed to recover some of those destinations and turn them into reality. One of them has not only been in our minds for many years, but on several occasions we have been about to take the plane tickets, launch ourselves and thus not have a reverse. But in the end, as we said before, for one thing or another, we have been leaving. There are several factors that threw us back with this destiny.


The first and main one was the time to travel and that is if we want to enjoy a first contact with the country, we wanted to do it at the best time and this is reduced to a few months a year, just the ones that we It is worse to take vacations, we are talking about the summer months: June, July and August ... At the end of this year we were able to gather 15 days in August and at that moment that destiny that we had postponed so many times began to return to our minds. This land of ice and fire that is pure nature. So without thinking too much this time, we took the plane tickets ...

Another of the things that have pushed us back several times is the economic issue. And now we are going for the route that we will do in Iceland. We will arrive one day early in the morning, so to start our two weeks with a bit of relaxation, we have decided that the first day we will spend in the capital of the country, Reykjavik.

From this first day, that we will take it as a first contact with the country, we will begin to make one of the most tourist routes that can be done in Iceland and is the famous Circular route through Iceland. We will have 14 days to tour Iceland, so, between the days we have and the hours of sunshine, we believe that we will have enough days to get a good initial idea of ​​the country. From Reykjavik we will depart to the famous Golden Circle in Iceland where we will pass by such emblematic places as Pingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss ... One of the things we also considered was the possibility of rent a 4 × 4 in Iceland, but after making several assessments and following the advice of several experts on the subject, we decided to rent a tourism in Iceland and do some excursions where we would not arrive with a normal car.

We will continue the day in Fjaðrárgljúfur, Kirkjubæjarklaustur to finish in the Skaftafell area where we will stay. On day 6 of our trip we will enter Skaftafell Park, where we can see the Svartifoss Waterfall before heading to one of those sour cherries that we all have in our particular vision of a country, for us it is Lake Fjarsárlón and Jökulsárlón. The next day of our trip we will dedicate it to places like Djúpivogur, Berufjörður, Egilsstaðir, Seydisfjordur ... At this point we will be at the equator of our trip to Iceland and we will spend the day touring Egilsstaðir, Detifoss, Hafragilsfoss, Selfoss, Vesturdalur, Ásbyrgi, until we reach the Myvatn area where the next day we want to make an excursion through the area, considered one of the most “exotic in Iceland”, where we will reach the Askja Volcano boiler.

After this excursion of about 11 or 12 hours, we will go to Húsavík, where we will stay, for the next day, first thing in the morning, to ride a boat that will take us to watch whales !!
After this, we intuit, fantastic experience, we will follow our tour of Iceland visiting places like Krafla, Leirhnjukur, Hverarönd, Jardbodin við Mývatn, Dimmuborgi, Höfði, Stakhólstjörn, Godafoss Waterfall ... Already on day 11 of our trip, we will continue visiting Akureyri, Hólar, Glaumbær, Borgarvirki, Hvítserkur, Illugastaðir, Nedra-Vatnshorn in Hunathing ... Most unpronounceable names, at least now for us 😉 So we will enter the penultimate day of Circular route through Iceland, touring places like Helgafell Church, Berserkjahraun, Grundarfjörður, Kirkjufell, Ólafsvík, Hellissandur, Saxhóll, Hellnar, Arnarstapi, Búðaklettur, Borgarnes ...

And as one day the end has to come, for us the last day of the trip to Iceland, but as we have the flight back to Barcelona at dawn, we do not plan to miss a minute of our last day in the country of ice and fire, so we will start the day knowing Reykholt, Hraunfossar, Deildartunguhver and from here go to another the best known places of Iceland: Bláa lónið or the Blue Lagoon, where we will spend the last hours of our trip to Iceland, enjoying and relaxing in a place we believe will be amazing, before heading to Keflavík International Airport to return our rental car ... and return home. Before we even started planning the trip we already knew that Iceland It was a destination we wanted to know, but now, having read about the country and having known a little more, we know that it will be one of those destinations that will mark us forever.
