Day 18 - MUYUNA LODGE (Peruvian Amazon) - SAN JUAN COMMUNITY IN THE AMAZONAS RIVER

Today we woke up again with the sounds of the jungle. This is a real privilege that we are living since we arrived in the Peruvian Amazon and that we will surely understand when we visit the San Juan community on the Amazon River.
At 7.30 we are already having breakfast in the lounge of the Muyuna Lodge and minutes before 8.30 in the morning we are already riding again in a canoe, this time to enter for almost 4 hours inside the Peruvian Amazon rainforest in the "full day" excursion that we explained yesterday that in the end we would do twice to make it more comfortable for us.

Third day at the Muyuna Amazon Lodge

The moment we begin to enter the jungle with the canoe is when we really realize the place where we are and how the excursion will be today: really impressive.

Going canoe in the Amazon rainforest

An Eden without any doubt that we are having the great luck of being able to meet in this last stage of the trip to Peru.

Canoeing in the Amazon jungle

We enjoy every minute we spend among the vegetation, separating it from the edges of the canoe to allow us to pass. René tells us that this excursion, in the dry season of walking, but now, in the rainy season it has to be done by canoe before the impossibility of entering this area of the jungle on foot. This gives a "more film" roll and we can assure you that at times it seems that we are in full adventure of a video game.

Honeycomb in the Amazon

Yes it is true that when we consider end this trip to Peru in the Amazon, we thought we could see the fauna much closer than we can see it, but now, analyzing the situation is totally logical, since we are not in a zoo or in a safari like we did in Kenya and Tanzania that you can get closer to the animals .

Everything and with that we can see lazy bears in trees almost right next door, night monkeys, macaws and many more birds.

The final climax comes at 12 in the morning when we are returning to the lodge and it starts to rain.
The rain on us, in our heads and faces reminds us that we are alive. We are alive and we are privileged.
We return to Muyuna Lodge loaded with energy and an incredible feeling of good vibes. After a while of rest in our room at 1 we go to the lounge to eat.

Resting in the room of Muyuna Lodge

René tells us that at 3 o'clock in the afternoon we will go for a walk around the lodge and how we can not take the opposite, at 3 after our usual reading moment we are in the lounge.
But today the afternoon is different. It's raining in the seas, but René doesn't care in the least, so he urges us to take the ponchos and water boots, leave the cameras and enjoy the Amazon rainforest ride.
And so we go on an adventure in the middle of the jungle where, despite the rain, we see many wildlife such as monkeys, birds and insects.
We return after an hour and a half to the bone, full of mosquito bites that, as we said, are like airplanes but happy as children.
Despite what you might think if we say that we stay in a lodge in the AmazonThis is not the relaxation of the Maldives, it is very different, incomparable, but it is certainly an experience that you have to live once in a lifetime.
Just after this last walk, we have the right time to change our clothes, take a quick shower and return to the room where, while we wait to meet the 4 missing people, we have coffee.
After 16.30 in the afternoon we ride the canoe again. This time we go close to the San Juan community on the Amazon River, where we will visit these community and its people and know firsthand how they live.

Road to the community of San Juan on the Amazon River

We arrive in about 15 minutes and after leaving the canoe on the riverbank, we enter the Community of San Juan on the Amazon River.

Entering the Community of San Juan on the Amazon River

As we go along the roads, we reflect on the amount of material things we need and how they, without all this, live a totally full life.

Houses of the Community of San Juan on the Amazon River

San Juan Community School on the Amazon River

We visit the school and we are struck by the cartels that they have on the walls and that really teach what matters: Protect nature, don't litter in the river and another series of phrases that leave us so shocked that we are not able to take out the camera and immortalize them.

As we go into the area where the houses are, we cross paths with the people who live in the Community of San Juan on the Amazon River and we look at their faces. In adults the hardness of the jungle is reflected.
In those of children the innocence of those who need nothing more than life to be happy.

We return to the Lodge after 6 pm and before dinner we take a quick shower and change clothes again 😉 We are made some mosquito bite stickers.
Our dinner is accompanied by a desktop in which we greatly enjoy the company and the tranquility that gives a place like the Muyuna Lodge.

Here we have to say that René, when we arrived from the Community of San Juan on the Amazon River He tells us that tonight we have another night out around the lodge, but we, being the last night we will spend here, tell him that if he does not care, we prefer to "skip it" to enjoy a good talk.
Although he is not very convinced, there is no one who beats a good professional and a better person, in the end we managed to convince him that, although we are very happy with everything he has taught us, tonight we feel like resting and enjoying the facilities.
Today is our last night at the Muyuna Lodge. Our last night in paradise and almost our end of trip to Peru.
