Day 5: AMSTERDAM: Anne Frank House - BARCELONA

Today, although it is our last day of the trip to Amsterdam, since at 6.50 in the afternoon we have our flight to Barcelona, we decided that we have to get up early to see the Vondelpark and some other things that have been pending these days ago as the Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam.

We went down to breakfast at a cafeteria next to the Budget Hotel Liberty where we have been staying these days (Update 2017: This hotel has closed. We recommend Singel Hotel, which has the same location and with similar characteristics), a couple of cakes Apple and two coffees for 15 euros and at 9.15 we are already traveling again the streets of Amsterdam on the way to the first point today, the Anne Frank House.

When we arrive there is a line, but not as much as we saw the first day we were in Amsterdam, so we stayed and in less than 15 minutes we are already inside.
We pay 9 euros per person, this visit does not enter the I Amsterdam Card and we will discover one of the best known places in the city while having more history: The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.

We have to say that photographs are not allowed inside, so we can show you what we saw. And perhaps it is better, since the most appropriate is to visit it without having preconceived ideas.
Without a doubt this is a essential visit in Amsterdam and although there were people who had told us that it was not worth it, it has brought us so much. We took the opportunity to buy the book of Anne Frank's Diary with a sticker and a bookmark there.
A good option to know the relationship between Amsterdam and the Nazi regime is to book this tour of Anna Frank through the Jewish quarter.
After this visit we go to the Museum Square and from here we continue walking to Albert Cuyp Mark, a street market that we approached because Roger has not noticed that on Sundays they close 😉 So I have gotten a good for nothing .

From here and being almost 1 noon we put the road to the center, passing through the heineken factory where we do not enter, although the entrance is free with the I Amsterdam Card, for lack of time and also because Roger already knew her from a previous trip and I like beer a little, so I already have the perfect excuse.

The truth is that it is not time to entertain a lot telling that our flight leaves at 18.50 in the afternoon, so we go to the area of the hotel where we take the opportunity to repeat in Green woods, where we ordered the same as the other day, a tuna sandwich plus hamburger plus two waters and coffees for 22.70 euros

Eating in Green Woods

It is 3 in the afternoon when we approach the hotel to pick up our bags and we make our way to the Central Station where we take out the train tickets from Amsterdam Central to Shiphol (We took them out at the ticket office of the station for 5 euros per person).
The train ride from Amsterdam to Shiphol is 30 minutes and as soon as we enter the airport, we go through the auto check-in machines to pick up our ticket and from here you can get an idea: wait for a couple of hours entertaining with the free Wi-Fi. I wish all the airports learned from this!

By the way, we settled on a sofa without premeditation and when we realize, we remember that it is the same one we were on our trip to Peru a few months ago.

Having a drink on the same sofa where we were on the scale to Peru

The flight passes between comments on this getaway and the odd one of the next one that although there are still a few months left for it we are already starting to prepare it.
At 10 p.m. and a few minutes after leaving the airport, we call our friends at Aparca & Vola to bring us the car to T1 and start back home.
The getaway to Amsterdam is over, a city that has fallen in love with us from the first moment we arrived.
