Day 5: FEZ: Bab Bou Jeloud, Medina (Fez El-Bali), Talra Kbira, Tala Saguira ... - FEZ AIRPORT - BARCELONA

Today is our last day on this trip to Casablanca, Meknès and Fez and we went down to breakfast at the breakfast room of Riad Ibn Khandoun at 8.30 just like we did yesterday, our first day in Fez.
Today we have our flight from Fez to Barcelona at 15.55 in the afternoon so we have all morning to finish enjoying the city and the Medina of Fez.
The idea of this morning is to lose ourselves again in its streets and enjoy the company of the smells and colors that have enamored us.

The initial idea was to go to the Jewish area but after hearing that it was not worth it, we have chosen to let it go and devote ourselves to the area of the Medina of Fez.
After 9 in the morning we enter the Medina again with no more intention than to take a walk and take some photos, soaking up, as we said before, the smells and colors that this city has offered us.

The Medina of Fez still closed

At these hours the Medina of Fez It begins to wake up and it is not until after 10 in the morning when we begin to see almost all the open stores and that atmosphere of this area of the city.

After more than an hour losing ourselves between the streets we arrive at the Bab Bou Jeloud door from where we take the opportunity to take a walk around the surroundings to see the outside of the Medina.

After this walk we stopped at a coffee terrace with some unique views of Bab Bou Jeloud drinking orange juice and mint tea for 25 dirhams.

Resting in front of Bab Bou Jeloud

There really is nothing better to say goodbye to a city that we have fallen in love with and which we will surely return at some point.
There are only a few minutes to 12 in the morning and that is when we decide that the time has come to return to our riad, collect our bags and get on our way to the airport to take our flight from Fez to Barcelona.

There are some Ways to go to the airport from Fez: the first is to take a grand taxi for 120 dirhams (the petit taxi does not arrive at the airport), the second is to go to the train station by taxi, for about 30 dirhams if they do not agree to put the taximeter and there take the bus number 16 That for 20 dirhams per person leaves you directly at the airport in about 45 minutes. The third would be to opt for private transport, the most comfortable option.

Book your Airport⇆Fez transfer here

Although we planned to take this last option, seeing what time it is and wanting to eat something before catching the plane, we prefer to take a taxi to save time since the difference is not too much, about 60 dirhams, it does not reach 6 euros .
We arrive at the airport in half an hour and the first thing we do is validate our tickets at the check-in counters since although we take the online check-in it is obligatory to go through the check-in counters to check the passports and departure cards of the country .
We also take the opportunity to change the dirhams that we carry for euros (they cannot be changed inside and you have to take into account that in stores you can only pay in euros even if it seems a lie. The only place where they accept dirhams is in the cafeteria ).
We pass the baggage checks and access the boarding area, very small by the way, where we eat a couple of sandwiches plus two waters for 111.60 dirhams that convert directly into 11.60 euros when we say we want to pay in euros.

Departure lounge at Fez airport

And so we spend the hour and peak that we have left until the time of embarking in which we review our getaway to Casablanca, Meknès and Fez and we started thinking about the next trip for which there are no more than 3 months left !!
We arrived in Barcelona at 7 in the afternoon, at which time our friends of Aparca & Vola are waiting for us with the car at the door of the T2.
There is certainly no better way to end a trip ...
