Thursday, April 5, 2007

We started the day walking towards Buckingham Palace, it is the official residence of the British monarch in London, where Queen Elizabeth II lives, you can visit a part and the palace gardens but we wanted to see the changing of the guard that was at 11 : 30, near there are several very nice parks where you can walk the Green Park or St. James Park, for us St. James Park is the best park in London, its forest, its lakes, it is full of squirrels that you they approach until eating from your hand, it is in front of the Buckingham Palace.

St. James Park

When there was half an hour to change we approached but it was already full of people and you didn't have much room to see it well, but I expected something else, it is done in the courtyard of the palace and you have to see it between the bars and from afar. Then we walked through the Green Park and went to the Piccadilly Circus area, where there are many shopping streets until we reach the square famous for its large video screens and neon advertising signs.

Piccadilly Circus

We ate in the Oxford Street area, the main commercial artery of the center of the capital.
In the afternoon we went to the Westminster neighborhood where we visited its cathedral, which is the main temple of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. We walked around the neighborhood where the House of Parliament, Big Ben, the Abbey ... places are located what to see in London, but that we would visit other days and along Victoria Street to our hotel.

Nearby you can also see outside the House of Parliament and going to the Thames you can see the Big Ben which is the name as the Great Westminster bell is known, the largest of the bells that are inside the Tower and that form part of the Great Westminster Clock.

Parliament and Big Ben

When we finish and before eating we get on the London Eye, which is one of the largest ferris wheels in the world, to get on it after a long queue, you get into a large fully covered cabins and take a ride that can last about 20 or 30 minutes, the ferris wheel from afar seems like this stop but it is because of the slow movement it has, from there you have magnificent views of the Thames, Big Ben and all of London.
You can book the visit to the London Eye here and avoid the long lines.

London Eye

Then we went to eat and in the afternoon we made a cruise on the Thames, if it wasn't for the cold it is very good, and to end the day we went to the Aquarium, another place what to see in London, which is also in the London Eye area and there is a great variety of marine fauna.

Touching the park are the Kensington Gardens and the palace that was the official residence of Princess Diana.
After we went to visit the Royal Albert Hall, the Theater of Arts and Sciences in London, there have performed the best singers and groups in history, noted for its great dome, to visit inside you have to go with a guide English speaking, they show you some of the rooms, what most attracts attention is when they let you into the boxes, and you see how big it is, at that time a group was rehearsing and the acoustics are formidable.
