Accommodation in Torres del Paine. Las Torres Hotel

An accommodation in Torres del Paine that deserves a special mention is undoubtedly the Las Torres Hotel, an emblem in the sector, as well as being one of the best known accommodations in Torres del Paine National Park. This is not only for its characteristics, but also for being the entrance door of some of the most famous trekkings in the world: the trekking to the Base of the Towers, the Trekking W or the Trekking O.

After our stay, we can confirm that staying at Hotel Las Torres Patagonia is an experience in itself, both for its incredible location, its architecture and its services, as an exclusive character, inherited from its past as "stay", that today we can know through horses, the Baqueana culture and its organic garden, where many of the products that are served in the Coirón Restaurant are obtained.

If we add to that the possibility of living a unique experience, in full contact with nature, without forgetting the history of accommodation and its Patagonian heritage, Las Torres Hotel is today one of the most recommended alternatives of accommodation in Torres del Paine.

Las Torres Hotel History

Although today seeing the architecture of the Hotel Las Torres you can think that it is a newly built accommodation, nothing is further from the truth. The history of this accommodation is long, specifically in 1926. It is in this year that Antonio Kusanovic Senkovic, of Croatian immigrant parents, was born in Punta Arenas, who after a lot of work for years, became a renowned cattle rancher zone.
In 1979 Antonio Kusanovic buys the Estancia Cerro Paine, an estate of more than 4000 hectares, within which it would later become the famous National Park Torres del Paine, where he starts a cattle raising business, without expecting what would happen several years later in this place.
And the 90s are around when they begin to reach this part of the world crowd of tourists attracted by the inhospitable nature of this place away from everything. It is at that time when Kusanovic and his wife decide to make the Estancia Cerro Paine a small accommodation, with 9 rooms and a small restaurant, where they can attend to the guests, without forgetting the traditions of Patagonia.
And so, year after year, the Estancia Cerro Paine became the Las Torres Hotel, one of the most recognized accommodations in Torres del Paine National Park and also in Chile.

AMA (Environmental Group) TORRES DEL PAINE

Something that we believe should be highlighted is the work currently done by the Hotel Las Torres born from its concern for nature and the environment. This concern is what materializes the idea and the birth of AMA, an Environmental Group that teaches both the community and schools in the area, the need to protect the environment.
In the same way, it gives support to all the volunteers involved in the cause, in addition to donating part of their income as accommodation to the group, something that we believe is very remarkable.
You can find much more information on their website.

Rooms Hotel Las Torres

Superior Canelo

This is the category of the room in which we stayed during our stay. With 20m2, the rooms maintain a simple decoration, but that evokes the Patagonian culture, giving us a warm and comfortable stay.
The bed is extremely comfortable, as well as large, something that is essential, especially after a day of hard walking, touring the wonders of Torres del Paine National Park.
The bathroom is not too big, but it has all the comforts, being fully functional.
Something we want to highlight is the presence of several plugs in the room, all accessible, something essential when you need to charge several devices.
Although they announce that there is no wifi in the rooms, we can say that in some of them the signal does arrive, although with less intensity.

Coiron Restaurant

Another of the great reasons to choose Hotel Las Torres as accommodation in Torres del Paine, in addition to the location and facilities, it is without a doubt the Coirón Restaurant, the place where you can have lunch or dinner every day and taste as they say: "flavors of the end of the world".

Coiron Restaurant

But don't expect to find a restaurant as such. The Coirón Restaurant is a perfect mix of creativity and tradition, which every day puts on your table a unique selection of fresh products, many of them that come directly from your own garden, selected with all the passion and transferred to the plate with your own creativity of the best restaurants.

Coiron Restaurant

Both lunch and dinner are à la carte, with a selection of dishes that include the best meats, the best fish and an extensive variety of both starters and seconds and desserts.
One of the things that attract us the most and that we want to highlight is the professionalism, both of the staff and the chef, Cristian Urrutia, with whom we could talk for a while about his work, and that transmit the love for his work and for the gastronomy, something that undoubtedly moves to each of the dishes that are served daily at the Coirón Restaurant.

Pioneer Bar

If there is a common space that stands out from the rest in the Las Torres Hotel That is the Pioneer Bar, the place where guests meet after the day to relax, have a drink or just comment on the day in front of extraordinary views of the surrounding massif.

Pioneer Bar

Pioneer Bar

With comfortable sofas, at the foot of the windows, several tables where you can eat or drink at the end of the day and a relaxed atmosphere throughout our stay at the Hotel Las Torres there was not a single night that we did not end the day sitting on one of the sofas.
Have a drink, listening to good music while planning the next day at the National Park Torres del Paine It is something you can not do during your stay at the Hotel Las Torres.

Pioneer Bar

With a menu also designed by the chef of the Coirón Restaurant, at the Pioneer Bar you can eat in a more relaxed atmosphere and with a less selection of dishes blunt Not in the restaurant.
This option is perfect if you have an afternoon excursion scheduled and want to eat something fast or you just want to eat something less forceful, but with the same quality and dedication.

Pioneer Bar Bar

In addition to the atmosphere and the menu of meals, one of the things we want to highlight at the Pioneer Bar is its magnificent cocktail and craft beer menu, fermented in a cabin that you can see right in front of the bar.
Cocktails like "Aboriginal", winner of the National Tournament of Moxologists, Capel Puro 2013, or the"Indomitable", second classified in the National Mixology Tournament, qualifier for the National Selection of Bartenders of Chile or a" Pisco Sour ", in which the mint is chosen directly from the organic garden, are just a sample of the drinks you can find in An extensive letter that we assure you, will make you enjoy Patagonia as you never imagined.

Indomito Cocktail at the Pioneer Bar

As they say in their letter, in the words of Fernando Ferrer, and we believe, it defines them perfectly: "They are the pioneers, the first ones, the eternal ones, the ones we see still portrayed in their grandchildren, breathing in our streets, walking through the squares, the ones we still see when looking at the buildings, when we enter the school, when we go to church , upon entering the cemetery, here they are, very present forever. Organic Garden Hotel Las Torres

As we have said when we talked about the Coirón Restaurant and the Pioneer Bar, another of the great attractions of the Hotel Las Torres is the possibility of growing your own vegetables, herbs and fruits in your garden, using as a natural fertilizer the one that comes from your stables.
Through this organic garden, this accommodation in Torres del Paine maintains its commitment to sustainable tourism and reflects what we should all do in this incredible place: leave the smallest possible footprint inside the national park.

Stables Hotel Las Torres

Another of the outstanding services at the Hotel Las Torres are its stables, which can accommodate more than 200 horses.
These are the ones that take guests to the excursions that take place in the mountains or pampas of Patagonia, showing you, from a different perspective, the wonderful environment in which the hotel is located.

Stables

One of the moments you can not miss is when the Baqueanos, early in the morning, accompany and enter the horses that spent the night grazing freely. Being in bed, listening to the galloping of the horses, and looking out the window to see the show, we assure you that it is something that is priceless.

Corner of the Stay

Right in front of the reception is the Rincon de la Estancia, a reserved space so you can find all the information you need, both the hotel and the excursions and tours they do.

Between the Coirón Restaurant and the rooms we find the Calafate lounge, a perfect place to relax, both at the beginning of the day, with a good coffee in your hands, and at the end of the day, with a glass of wine and a nice table in which to comment on the experiences lived in the Torres del Paine National Park.

Hotel Las Torres lounge

In this area of the hotel you will only listen to a slight background music, which perfectly accompanies the incredible views of the massif. If you add to that the fireplace, which makes the place much more welcoming if possible, this is one of the most intimate and personal spaces of the Hotel Las Torres. You can tell we loved it, right?

What we did not like about Hotel Las Torres

Although we can confirm that there is nothing we can define as "we have not liked"In the Hotel Las Torres, there are a couple of things that we believe could be improved:
- That English is used as the main and initial language in conversations with guests is something that has caught our attention.
Although we understand that most guests do not speak Spanish, we believe that being in Chile, Spanish should be used as a first language, and then, of course, speak in the guest's language.
- Although they already warn that the WiFi is by satellite and that it can only be used in the common areas, due to the place where we are, it does not always work quickly, something that for example for us, that we had to work, was a small problem .
Although in this case, it is a perception totally influenced by our situation, and that we understand perfectly that by location, this service cannot be better.

We cannot finish this article without expressing our enormous gratitude to each and every one of the people with whom we lived during our entire stay at the Hotel Las Torres. From the guides to the waiters, through the reception staff, to the room staff, to Cristian Urrutia, the chef of the Coirón Restaurant, with whom we talked and conveyed his great love for his land and gastronomy, to the Federico bartenders and Maxi for the night demonstration and for showing us how a cocktail can stop being a simple drink to become a delicacy, from the content to the glass that contains it.
To all of them: Thank you very much for making our stay at the Hotel Las Torres, a few days we will never forget.
Special mention to Martina, the person who made our stay a few wonderful days, especially since he arrived and accompanied us the last two days, showing us the most personal face of Hotel Las Torres, taking care of us and pampering us from the first minute and above all, Showing exquisite professionalism.
Martina, you made a unique experience for us, unforgettable days. Thank you!!

That said, we want to highlight that we have confirmed that Las Torres Hotel as such is a great company and a great accommodation in Torres del Paine.
Although after our stay, we have been able to verify that its true value is the people who make our guests feel at home every day and say goodbye with the total security of having fulfilled a dream. We hope to see each other again very soon.

* During our trip to Chile and Easter Island in Torres del Paine National Park we stayed at the Las Torres Hotel maintaining a collaboration with them. This has not influenced the opinions that are reported here, which are all a summary of our experience and feelings during the stay.
