Day 4: What to see in Shanghai in two days: Xintiandi, Fuxing Park, Tianzifang, Jade Buddha Temple and ERA aerobatic show in Shanghai Circus World

Although today's forecasts were rainy and made us wobble a little the itinerary we had planned with several places what to see in Shanghai in two daysAs soon as we wake up and look out the window, we see a sun shining that makes it anticipate that today it will continue with the same sun and the same heat that we had yesterday in the way Shanghai was traveling yesterday in one day.
We look online at the web of the weather and indeed today it is expected that we reach 30 degrees, even more than yesterday, so we intuit that it will be a few more degrees, so we have to dress up a bit more summery and start the day with the itinerary we have prepared for our Shanghai in two days.
The first thing we do is approach to a Starbucks that we have right next to the Shanghai Fish Inn Hotel East Nanjing Road, where we were already yesterday, and although we have to recognize that it is not precisely our favorite place for breakfast, it is true that it is of the few places we find in Shanghai where there is coffee and it is also good, something that we value a lot and more in the morning.
On this occasion we chose to order a couple of toasts with a couple of coffees and for 89RMB we relax on the second floor of the place, in a very quiet environment, with which we cannot start the morning better.

What to see in Shanghai in two days

The tour we will take today will take us to Xintiandi, Fuxing Park, Tianzifang and at night to enjoy the incredible ERA aerobatic show in Shanghai Circus World, one of the most incredible shows in the world.

The first of the places what to see in Shanghai in two days It will be Xintiandi, a kind of traditional village or neighborhood, completely restored that is located quite close to our accommodation, at least considering the great distances between the places of interest in a city like this.
To get to Xintiandi we have to take Line 10, right next to the hotel and in two stops, therefore paying 2RMB per person, we ride the subway, quite quieter by the way than the day we arrived from the airport to Shanghai, and in five minutes we are in the area of this peculiar neighborhood of Shanghai.

From the Xintiandi metro station, corresponding to Line 10, we have approximately 10 minutes walk, which we enjoy with the tranquility of the morning, although in honor of the truth, we have to say that as soon as we reach our destination, we are seized by a kind of disappointment is that we find something that we could well define as a full-fledged theme park.

Alleys of Xintiandi

Xintiandi

Xintiandi is one of the areas of Shanghai most frequented by tourists, especially at night, as it houses many renowned international restaurants, such as the one that Paco Roncero has here.
If we had made the visit for this purpose, our perception would probably have changed a lot, but having read that Xintiandi was also a very pleasant area to walk, in which the old houses were restored to house small premises, we believed that the place It was going to be similar to the Yuyuan Market we met yesterday, but the truth is that nothing is further from reality.
A good option to know the history of this neighborhood is to book this guided tour in Spanish that includes a night cruise.

Xintiandi

Paco Roncero Restaurant. Xintiandi

After our experience we have to say that we have found it quite artificial and unless you want to approach at night, to have dinner in one of the restaurants, we believe that this visit is little bit interesting or at least expendable in a city like Shanghai.
While it is true that if you have time left in the city, you are interested in branded clothing or international restaurants with quite high prices, this may be a good option to spend a few hours in the city.
With these impressions, after taking a walk that does not take us more than 45 minutes and taking some photos directly we decided to go to the second place we have what to see in Shanghai in two days.
This visit is the Fuxing Park, where we arrived after crossing, this time, a traditional Chinese neighborhood, which we have to say, we love it and where we get lost in its streets without hurry, trying to soak up all the charm that this guy gives of places, little or nothing known and that show us the reality of a city.

Road to Fuxing Park

Shanghai streets

As soon as we get to Fuxing Park and see the atmosphere, we begin to be aware that it is Sunday and as such, the park is super set, with people dancing in every corner, singing, playing sports or dedicating themselves to any of their hobbies, In an incomparable setting such as a park.

Fuxing Park

This park has given us one of the quietest moments since we arrived in Shanghai, forgetting for more than an hour of the chaos that is lived in some of the areas of the city.
Originally, the Fuxing Park was designed during the Ming dynasty as part of a private estate, although it later became a beautiful public park, which only allowed access to French residents in Shanghai, which gradually introduced details French, making this a park with a certain European character.

After spending almost an hour here, losing ourselves among the vegetation and enjoying all the scenes we are crossing, we have to say that it is a highly recommended visit, especially on the weekend and where it is worth spending a few minutes and more if you are visiting like us Xintiandi and Tianzifang.

After this relaxing time, in one of the green lungs of the city, we make our way to the next point what to see in Shanghai in two days which is Tianzifang, a neighborhood of traditional streets, in the French Concession, located just 1 kilometer from Fuxing Park.

Tianzifang

As soon as we arrive and enter one of its streets, we realize that this is precisely what we were looking for. While it is still an area "commercial", it is much more traditional, close and charming than Xintiandi, which we visited this morning.
Forgetting the map that we saw at the entrance and only allowing ourselves to be guided by the senses, both of sight and smell, at this time the restaurants already begin to get underway, we enter a network of streets, full of premises and details, which make us move to a Shanghai that we did not expect.

Tianzifang What to see in Shanghai in two days

We can say that Tianzifang is a residential area that is in the middle of the French Concession area, formed by shikumen, that adorn all its labyrinthine streets, full of color and atmosphere, and that have formed one of the most traditional and tourist areas from the city.
After being lost for more than an hour on its streets, we advise you to forget about a map or GPS and just wander through the streets full of charm without a fixed destination, until when it is 1 noon, we start looking for a place to eat .

Tianzifang is perfect for this and is that there are hundreds of places to choose from and how could it be otherwise, we opted for a great Japanese in which we ordered a couple of bags of fish and rice, more rolls, nigiris, water and beer for 131RMB.

Eating in Tianzifang

Unbeatable price and all great! So much so that for an hour, it has been as if we relived our trip to Japan for free, a country we are looking forward to returning to and for which we already have closed dates.
We go out again to the streets of Tianzifang when it is almost 2 in the afternoon, now willing to lower the food a bit and go looking for somewhere to drink coffee and thus make the perfect desktop.

After this walk we enter a small place with a very nice terrace, at street level, where we have a couple of coffees with ice for 85RMB, you will have noticed that coffee in Shanghai is a luxury, right ?. And after this table, when it is almost 4 in the afternoon, we decided to approach one of the places we most wanted to know in Shanghai: its famous Jade Buddha Temple.

To get there we go to Madang Road, to the subway station of line 13, and after taking two tickets for 7 stations for 7RMB per person, to Jiangning Road, it took us no more than 15 minutes to reach our destination, in which you have to keep in mind that they close at 4:30 p.m. to avoid surprises.
We paid 20RMB per person and entered an enclosure that although we had read in several places that was quite expendable, for us it has been a discovery, so much that we can only recommend it and include it among the places we believe, they are essential among the sites what to see in Shanghai in two days.

Jade Buddha Temple

The Jade Buddha Temple was built in 1882 to include in its interior two jade sculptures, which arrived from Burma and that today can be seen in different rooms of the enclosure.

Jade Buddha Temple

The figure that most attracts attention is the one that represents a seated Buddha two meters high, decorated with precious stones, which we can say, leaves you practically breathless.
The second of the two jade figures we find in the temple is made of white jade and is a reclining Buddha, which although smaller than the seated Buddha, in our opinion is much more striking and impressive.

Jade Buddha Temple

It's almost 5 in the afternoon when we leave the Jade Buddha Temple towards our next stop, the spectacular Shanghai Circus World where tonight we plan to see the ERA aerobatic show.
To get there we have to go back to Jiangjing Road and change on line 1, then continue four stops to Shanghai Circus World. As usual these days, we approach the vending machines where we get a ticket of 5RMB per person, which will take us to the place where we will enjoy one of the most incredible shows we have been lucky to see so far .

Shanghai Circus World

We arrive when there are a few minutes to 6 in the afternoon and although it may seem strange, we are quite hungry, so we approach an area of restaurants that are very close to the Shanghai Circus World, where there is a shopping center and there are many restaurants Among which to choose.

After several laps, we ended up at the Blue Frog where we ordered a hamburger, some quesadillas and 2 Coca-Cola for 196RMB and as a dessert, we cannot resist making a stop at a Haagen Dazs that is right next to where we eat an ice cream Great for 89RMB with which we enjoy an extraordinary desktop.

Dinner at Blue Frog

Dessert in Haagen Dazs

After dinner, it is 7:30 when we are already in the Shanghai Circus World, sitting in the front row, waiting for the most impressive acrobatics show we have ever seen: the ERA aerobatic show.
We will not explain more. Just say that even though they told us that no photos or video could be taken and that there were people doing it, we did not succumb to temptation, especially out of respect for the artists.
We wanted to take only this memory in our retinas and leave here the firm recommendation that you come. We assure you that in addition to liking you, it will change you as a show.

ERA acrobatic show

It's 9:30 when the show ends and we go looking for the subway that will take us back to our accommodation in Shanghai, the Shanghai Fish Inn East Nanjing Road Hotel where it's time to rest and above all, remember all the emotions we have experienced today.
