Day 6: London: Abby Road, Natural History Museum, Borough Market in London and Tate Modern

Today is our last day of the trip to London in 6 days and as usual, the alarm sounds minutes before 6 in the morning to work a while before going down to the breakfast room of the Garden Court Hotel, with which We started today charging energy to visit, among other places, Borough Market in London.

But before this visit we have to go to that place that we skipped the first day and that we really want to know: Abby Road.
To get there from our hotel we have to take the subway and after a change of line, get off at the St. John's Wood Station, on the Jubilee line, from where in just a few meters we reach one of the iconic sea places of the city, where at this time, there is practically no one, something we have to say, is much appreciated.

Abbey Road

Abbey Road Studios

As the minutes pass we see the first tourists begin to appear, who like us, look for the photo in one of the most famous pedestrian crossings in the world, so we try not to entertain much and make a fast crossing, to immortalize one of the most famous images of the city.

Abbey Road

After being here for a while and taking the photos that we had in mind, we put our way to the second point of our itinerary today which is Harrods, which although we do not want to enter, we do want to see it again outside and also serves as an excuse Perfect for a walk to the Natural History Museum, where we want to enter and take a quick tour and how could it be otherwise, return to see one of the most beautiful rooms we have ever seen in a museum.

Harrods

This is the good thing about having an extra day in London, as in cities like New York, where many of the tourist attractions are outdoors and if the weather is bad, you have to change the plans in case you want to see them The best way. And this is precisely what happened to us and so this last day in London we will visit some points that have no connection between them by location, but that due to bad weather, these days we stopped visiting.

London Natural History Museum

Museum of Natural History

The Natural History Museum opens at 10 in the morning, but being free, only a completely voluntary donation is requested, there is usually a lot of queue, so it is worth coming a little before 10 if you want to skip it and enter first hour in the morning.

Natural History Museum Entrance

The recommended tour includes the most important and famous pieces of the museum and will take you about 3 or 4 hours, although as you can imagine in this museum, as in many others in the city, you could spend days and days enjoying it without getting tired.
In our case, being a museum that we already knew, we have made a quick tour of the best known areas, especially focusing on the hall, one of the most incredible rooms, which no matter how much we have seen it, it does not cease to surprise us, especially from the top, from where you have a unique perspective.

We leave the Natural History Museum when it is 11:30 in the morning, going straight to the subway for this occasion go to Borough Market, one of the best markets in London, next to Camden Market, Portobello in The Notting Hill Neighborhood and Brick Lane Market, where we were yesterday.

Borough Market in London

Just meet us in front of him, the truth is that it surprises us and a lot and we expected a market maybe more normal or less striking, something that already from the outside, we see that it will not be so and that we are sure, will exceed all the expectations we have.

Borough Market in London

If we have to be honest, the truth is that both the architecture and the environment of Borough Market in London we liked them very much, but it is also true that we have seen that there are not too many food stalls and those that we have seen do not have too much variety and neither, sincerely, have they called us a lot of attention only at the level of sight and olfactory level, since of specialties that perhaps also we personally did not like.

Borough Market in London

What we do have to say that we liked a lot are several stores that we have seen with a lot of charm, one of them of kitchen utensils that has caught our attention and also another one of spices that sincerely, is spectacular. We have been looking forward to shopping, but since we do not have much time or much space in the carry-on bag, we decided to leave it for the next time we come to the city, we will surely come with more time and more space.

Borough Market in London

From here without convincing us to eat in any of the stands as we had planned, we follow the path along the banks of the Thames, towards the Tate Modern and we find a Pizza Express, the restaurant where we had dinner the first day, when we arrived from Gatwick Airport to London, at the Leadenhall Gallery.

Route of the last day of the trip to London in 6 days

Today's route will take us to Abby Road, the Natural History Museum, Borough Market in London and the Tate Modern, where we will go up to its viewpoint to enjoy some of the best views of the city.

While we also have to say and be honest, this pizzeria is not that it is anything from the other world, nor of course it has to be better or worse than the Borough Market stalls, it just seemed at this time a better option, besides having the possibility of sitting, something that after these days, we have to say that he is grateful and much.
After lunch, a little faster than usual since these are our last hours in the city, we continue the route approaching the Tate Modern, one of the visits that we do not want to miss on this trip, not so much for the museum in Yes, we have visited on previous occasions, but by climbing to the tenth floor, from where we have read, you can enjoy one of the best views of London.

Views of London from the Tate Modern

Like the rest of the museums that we have visited these days, the Tate Modern is free to enter, one more reason to get closer to one of the days you pass through the area to enjoy the incredible views of the city and of which we are sure , you will fall in love.

In addition, in case you do not know the museum, it is worth spending a couple of hours to see some of his works and end the visit in the viewpoint, having a drink.

It's 2:30 in the afternoon when we leave Tate Modern, ready to say goodbye to the city and determined to make this last walking tour arriving at the Westminster tube station, next to Big Ben.
And it is time to say goodbye to London, we hope that shortly, since this 6-day trip has opened the possibility and the dream of returning to be in the city some weeks that allow us to know London more background and above all, with more tranquility.

We enter the Garden Court Hotel when it is half past three to pick up our bags and make our way back to the subway station where we connect with Victoria Station and from there with the Gatwick Express, which we already took the first day of the trip and that It will take us to Gatwick Airport, from where our Easyjet flight leaves at 7:50 p.m.

Just as the day we arrived, we must bear in mind that the Gatwick Express leaves you in the South Terminal and if you fly with Easyjet, as is our case, you must go to the North Terminal, with the free shuttle, as as we did the first day we arrived.
And so when it is 6 pm, we arrive at the airport and already with the fully acquired English schedule, after passing all the security controls, where by the way you must take the liquids out of the suitcase, it is not only possible to carry them in sachets, we take advantage To eat in a Lebanese restaurant, a humus, plus kebab and falafel, soda and lemonade for 29 pounds, which will be the last meal we make in British territory, we hope to see you soon.

And so they arrive at 7 in the afternoon, at which time we go in search of the 101 door through which we take off a little later than expected, but very comfortable in our seats in the front row and with Speedy boarding, we have to say, they are wonderful, despite the extra they suppose.

After a flight that we spend between reading and nodding we arrive at T2 in Barcelona, where we pick up the car from the parking lot and start the road home, where we arrived at dawn thinking only of two things: rest and the next trip, which we will start in just 15 days.
