World Tourism Forecasts for 2012, according to the UNWTO January Barometer

The UNWTO World Tourism Organization provides for the year 2012 a growth of between 3 and 4 percent in the world tourism.

After the good World tourism data in 2011, with a 4.4 percent increase in international tourist arrivals, the UNWTO January Barometer estimated that tourism will continue to grow in this year 2012 until you reach the figure of 1,000 million tourists.

After the fall of tourism of 3.8 percent in 2009, and the strong growth of 6.6 percent in 2010, in the past year the pace of growth has slowed and the forecast for 2012 is to continue that attenuation.

Regarding the regions of the world where the tourist activity will be greater, according to the OMT Barometer forecasts for 2012, it is expected that the emerging Asian economies will have the most growth again, between 4 and 6 percent.

For him tourism in Europe in 2012 less growth is expected than in 2011, between 2 and 4 percent, similar to what the tourism in america.

And in terms of tourism in countries that have suffered political turbulence during the past year, UNWTO believes that tourism will recover during 2012, with a growth of between 4 and 6 percent in Africa.

In the case of tourism in the countries of the Middle East, the forecasts are less defined because the Barometer reflects growth expectations between 0 and 5 percent.
